Win 7 RC x64 - Horrible Crackling audio, both driver settings - 1.8.89
Hello all. I'm interested in coming back to Vendetta to see the progress made, but it seems that I'm having what was formerly known as the "Vista sound bug", on Windows 7 Ultimate RC x64. I've seen a few threads about this including one where a dev said that (for vista at least) the issue was fixed.
My audio hardware is an Asus Xonar DX sound card. The popping and crackling is way worse on the "Vista" setting than the "WAV" setting, but "WAV" is still bad enough to be unplayable. Any ideas?
Edit: The
[wavsound]
use_dsound=0
force_16bit=0
Fix works, provided I kick it back to the WAV setting. I am just worried that I'm not getting the highest sound quality? Or is this not the case, and even with these parameters set, sound quality will still be high?
Thanks!

Your sound quality is still high. Interesting to know though. I'll have to check it out since I now have windows 7 beta.
I tried it on Windows 7 beta x86-64 build 7100 and the audio was fine with VO's vista audio driver.
I hope they didn't break anything between build 7100 and the RTM version.

Nope, I've been told that the audio is fine on Windows 7 x64 RTM.
