unable to play in opengl
i just bought an ati radeon 9000 64mb. directx rendering looks great and runs smoothly but i get mouse lag (mouse movements make it to the game about a half second after i move the mouse). i get this problem in a lot of directx apps. to get around this problem, i use opengl. however, i haven't been able to get vendetta to run in opengl with any non-nvidia card. i can get to the menus. but if i actually try to play, it crashes. i'll post the opengl log. i've also submitted a bug report via vendetta's bug report program.

I don't have a radeon 9000 to test with, but I've used an 8500 and a 9700 with no problems. It's got to be a bug in ati's drivers. I will see what ATI has to say.
Hmm, try turing vsync off then? ;)
According to the stacktrace in the errors.log file, it crashes inside the opengl drivers.
It looks like you have the latest drivers installed, too. I don't know why it doesn't work.

Hmm, According to your bug report, you have the WGL_ARB_extensions_string and EXT version functions. I don't know why it's printing that out.
Try deleting the log file and see if it creates the file with all that stuff again.
Vendetta crashes? does it bring up the bug reporter app? If not, can you check the errors.log and see if it has a stack dump at the end of the file, please?
As for the extreme lag in dx, try turning on VSync.

As for the extreme lag in dx, try turning on VSync.
------------
vsync is already on.
------------
Hmm, try turing vsync off then? ;)
------------
heheh. yeah, i just did that when i played earlier. i still notice a bit of mouse lag but fighting is now possible. :)
as for my drivers being up to date, i downloaded them a few days ago after i bought the card. i didn't use the drivers on the CD since those tend to be out of date.

i'm still having the problem of not being able to play in opengl. i submitted a bug report earlier. the above information in this thread should still be current except for the driver version. i'm using the latest drivers.
I dunno.
There have been other reports of lagged mouse movement in directx.

heh, you don't have two accounts, now do you sovvie..:p
i do have two accounts. i've just stopped using the Independence account. since my in-game name is Sovereign, i've created a Sovereign account for posting on the forum to avoid any confusion.
hell, i might just change my name again because i'm tired of everyone calling me sovvy or sovvie. contrary to what seems to be the popular belief, i don't like having my name twisted in such a way. with Independence, i could understand why people called me Indy or Inde. calling me sovvy or sovvie seems more like an insult. you're sounding just like all the low IQ idiots at my high school who like to twist my real name.

I think here it's meant with affection. Honestly. But get back of topic.
Just thought I'd revisit this thread. I have additional info. It only seems to happen if I have the textures set to very high. Setting them to high allows the game to run. The same thing happened under Linux.
Maybe your computer just can't handle it anymore if you set it to very high?
Nope. It's either a flaw in ATI's drivers or a flaw with Vendetta.
Hmm, With my ati radeon 9700 pro with 128 megs I have no problems with using opengl mode and very high textures.
However the pixel shaders don't work properly for the glow effect. That's an ATI bug.
I suppose I may not be handling full texture memory properly but I assumed the driver did the memory management for me to minimize texture thrashing. I dunno.
