Vendetta as a portable application?

Dec 17, 2008 ratonu link
Some of us might need (or maybe just prefer) to run Vendetta without some prominent entries in the registry. This is something you might be familiar with if you ever passed by portableapps.com
After installing Vendetta and testing it works I went through the registry and wiped all Vendetta related entries (there are not so many I might add).
Unfortunately after that "trick" when i try to launch it says: Installation problem / Vendetta is not installed properly. Please run VendettaSetup.exe.
Is this a windows thing or is it the vendetta executable checking for the registry before allowing the application to run?
Could the devs take it out? I don't see a reason for the check being there, but I might miss it.

My alternative for now would be to extract the registry entries that are required, delete them from the registry, and then create an application launching batch file that would:
- register the required entries in the registry
- run Vendetta
- on exit, delete the registry entries again.
It would work, but it would be easier if devs could help with a more native solution. Not to mention we can then promote Vendetta on the portableapps.com site.

=====edit=======
after looking a little deeper on portableapps.com it looks like there's such a thing called "launcher" which might do the trick. My request above is still valid but I might have a way around it with the tools from portableapps. I'll get back if I have a solution (maybe even the launcher) and share it with you.

You could try to rename vendetta.rlb to vo.exe (or anything.exe)
and run that, to bypass the updater.
Not sure if it'll help but worth a try.
