I wanted to show Kirsten the game and I downloaded VO to my school issues laptop. I was able to launch the program and the updater. However as the program was on the loading screen it suddenly crashed and told me it had a fatal loop and gave me the blue screen of death.

your school issue laptop is crap >.>

Lots of school issued computers come with software installed to prevent the access of inappropriate websites and games, etc etc etc.

Probably just had some form of blocker on it to prevent the game from loading all the way. As for the BSoD, I have no idea.
