VO startup
Every time I startup VO, it downloads the same patch every time.
It has been doing that since 1.7.17.
It isn't so much a big problem but it lengthens the time for startup and I'm not sure if it copies over the older one or makes a new one.

(I removed a post from Kanda that was off-topic and is covered in another thread in this forum anyway.)
Surbius, does it say it's downloading the patch (which takes about 15 minutes) or verifying files (which takes about 30-45 seconds) ?

It verifies the files and does a quick download of recent patches. All taking less than 30 seconds to be ready to start.
I have this too (win XP) and have tried renaming the config and media files. So far no change.
Sorry to bump but I have this too. But just as a point of reference, VO startup on Windows with whatever update it is takes about as long as OSX starting up in VO through the Updater.
Is it actually downloading, or does it display "verifying files" with a progress bar? I think a recent update make the verification process longer, it used to be near instant, so no progress bar displayed, now it takes 30 seconds or so...
What it does/says is "Downloading Update Files" (?not sure?)
And it's something like a 130,000 KBs (130 MBs I think) Which downloads in under 30 seconds. It's quick but I'm just wondering exactly what is it doing.
Is it adding another 130 MBs (highly doubt it)?
Or is it some little minor glitch that seems to be redownloading VO and corrects itself with comparing the files there... so now it seems like a cross-reference check so to make sure nothing has changed. But this speculaion is just flying out my ass.

Hmm, I dont get that, I always get a "Verifying files % done" but theres no way you are downloading 130MB that fast from the VO update server (fastest i've seen it download is about 200kB/s), so uhum, dunno, screenshot? (my updater ALWAYS ends with a screen saying :
Total 1932KB / 1932KB 0:00 remaining.
Update complete!
Even after no update, does yours?

Bad wording, I'm guessing. I get Verifying files and then it ends with Update complete. Not completely sure, but OSX probably has this too.
Hey.. Whats up with the Windows Updater.. Every time i restart the machine and reconnect to VO it starts to download the updates.. Which it does every time... and seems to download the entire client again..
Drives me mad.. Is there things i need to be aware of?
