Update problems

Currently the updater is designed only to work on an Administrator account. It should be designed to be able to update on any account once installed. Is this possible?

Its a Linux term which isnt very applicable, cos Unix and Unix variants have been designed to be multi user from the word go.

What should have been said is this is not a flaw with VO, but with the way Windows NT/2000/XP handles limited user accounts. I'm pretty sure there would be a way round it (maybe copying the VO directory to somewhere like the limited users *My Documents* folder and running the game from there after install, hmm, im not sure, I may try while bored later) but its not really something the dev team at VO have control over, try hitting the developer forums at microsoft.com (more useless advice, btw :P)

If i find a way to do it, I will edit this post!

Copying the game to the users my documents folder didn't work, I spend wayyyy too much time in linux, I forgot all about the registry entries that vo makes >.> You can run the vendetta.exe from ANYWHERE on a windows machine, but it will always run *from* the location found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Guild\Vendetta >.>

Installing the game to C:\Vendetta Online works here (or at least copying the VO folder to C:\ and editing the registry to reflect this), you should be aware of these limitations when dealing with an NT style user account.

Limited users can NOT change files in these locations :
C:\Windows or C:\WINNT
C:\Program Files
Anything thats in another users Documents and Settings folder cannot be read or written to.

Sooo, long story short, if you really need to let a restricted user run VO, don't install it in any of the above places!
