Unable to Connect to the Guild Software update Server
Error Msg:
Unable to connect to the Guild Software update server.
Please re-run the application to retry.
I created a user name and password, downloaded, installed, AND PLAYED the game for 7 hours from yesterday into today. I did quit a few times during the 7 hour period and reopened the game. I did not, however, turn the computer off during this 7 hour period (not sure if this info may or maynot help). This evening when i came back to my computer to restart the application the error messege appeared. Steps to solve this matter before this post:
1. Alt + Ctrl + Del: To see if anything out of the ordinary was running or if this game was just to happened to be running in the background. Neither were the case.
2. Restarted the computer. Still the same error messege.
3. Downloaded (yes again, bc i deleted the original Vendetta install the first time around), and install the game. Still same error messege.
4. Checked other posts/forums to see if anything similar was occuring. From there I:
.a Restarted the computer again as one post suggested. Nothing.
.b Turned off my XP Firewall. Nothing.
.c Cant remember what else i did
Anyway. Please help. I was considering to pay once the 8 free hours were up, but only if i can play!
XP Home Edition SP 2
AMD Athlon
1.25 GHz, 1.0 GB of RAM
Local Disk 120 GB
RADEON 9600 SERIES
Cable Connection
And thats all the info that i can think of as of right now. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

PS~ If ports are required for this connection. Which ones should I check to make sure they are open. Who knows if after the update new ports were chosen from the Software.

See the FAQ here: http://www.vendetta-online.com/h/faq_tech.html
Also, your XP firewall may have re-enabled by itself. It does that sometimes - dunno why. Try this:
Try completely closing the Vendetta Launcher, logging out from your ISP, and completely closing your browser (and anything else you may have open). Then go back and shut off your XP firewall. If you have ANY other antivirus / firewall software, shut that totally down as well. Now log back in to your ISP. This seems unnecessary, but recheck that the firewall is off. If all looks good, try the Vendetta launcher again.
If you get on, go ahead and re-enable your protection software while you are logged into the game. It will very likely recognize VO and request handling instructions.

Disabling the firewall on a windows box isn't a great idea unless you have something else protecting you, e.g. another firewall program, a hardware firewall between your machine and your internet connection or a NAT router.
It's a wild, wild web out there, particularly for windows users!
For running online games it's probably better to enable the XP firewall, disable any other firewall programs, and set up the VO executable and VO updater program as 'exceptions' in the firewall... advanced section.

Of course, if your firewall IS disabled, and you can't connect, then you know the firewall isn't the problem...
Precisely. I descibed a quick diagnostic test that should be safe enough, provided you re-enable your firewall(s) right away as described. The point is to temporarily eliminate software obstacles, then tweak the offender when you find it.
If a user knows enough to manually permit programs, they should do that instead.
