Windows Media Player & Vendetta
When in full screen mode...i'll be playing WMP in the background with shuffling on. After a song ends there will be a 2-3min wait if I'm just flying around in one sector. If I go to another sector like 20 seconds after the song ended the next song will come on.
If in window mode this never occurs.
If in full screen mode and no shuffling then it takes about 10-15 seconds before the next song plays.
Windows XP is what I'm running.
Has anyone else had these issues?

I've heard of this before. My opinion: Windows Media Player is evidently a piece of crap, which is exacerbated by Windows' foolish scheduling policies (focused windows get much higher CPU priority than unfocused ones... an argument can be made for this, but I think it is foolish). Try it with Winamp.

What OS would you suggest? I'm thinking a tri-boot of Windows, either Debian or Gentoo, and BeOS... Mmm... 120 gig hard drive... *Drool*

I used to have issues with WMP, but I seem to recall them going away with the new sound system.
I mix WMP and WinAmp so much now that I can't recall which one I've been using more.
I'll try WMP and see if things have gotten better.
/me acts happy at the 'edit post' button.

...So I can play music through Vendetta without the hassle of iTunes hogging all my processing time? :P
Sorry, Man. I've got AGP 2x, and I'm maxed out at my GeForce 2 MX. It's all my board can handle, or yes. I would get a better card. All my money goes to tuition and fees. :(
Wow.... Ummm... You could get a cheapo crappy comp to play them on... :P
Definitely thinking about it, what with the advent of TeamSpeak, and their Mac version port without so much as a peep of news for going on two months now.
Okay, this is a very belated response: May I suggest Winamp 2? (Not 3--it's bloated.)
I have to set it all up weirdly, though--if I have Winamp open, I have to close it. Then I fire up Vendetta, then I alt-tab out and fire up Winamp 2, and I must ensure that Vsync is turned off in Vendetta. Everything runs smoothly then.
Now, if I had the means to convert mp3s to Ogg/Vorbis, I'd try out the built-in Vendetta tunes-player.

ohh well
cheers

now...WMP works great while winamp makes major glitches...heheh :)
yeah really...winamp doesnt make a performance hit whatsoever....
/tested and runs just fine if you have 256mb+ ram...otherwise it just skips when you switch between vendetta and Winamp
unless you're trying to run it on a 486SX25 you shouldnt have any problems...

If you want to convert mp3 to oggs etc, try this one: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm you also have to download the ogg codec pack from the site. I always use this one for converting whenever on windows....
However the /playlist in vendetta doesn`t seem to allow shuffling (right?).. so it plays the same list in the same order over and over and over again.

Correct, no shuffling.
I've exprienced the same problem, and I just followed Sheean's advice and did the whole thing in .ogg. Cept now it wont work anyway. But yeah, a1k0n is right, WMP is crap and even if IT works flawlessly, your FPS is shot straight to hell. Pick one and stay with it. I listen to the radio or play a CD when I'm playing Vendetta since I don't find ambient7.ogg very Warlike...I play Wagner, scares the hell out of them.
NA NA NA NAANAA NANANA NANAAAAAA
NA NA NA NAANAA NANANA NANAAAAAA
Something I would like to see with the ogg player in vendetta is a /nexttrack and /prevtrack command whlie playing a playlist.
I use winamp 5 and there is no trouble at all. and I use ME the most unstable of all OS' in the world
Windows Media Player is just big crap! (btw. it sends lots of information to M$ and therefor slows down network connection, etc.) Best install: xpantispy! This one does a good job.
Better use iTunes or WinAmp instead (iTunes can be found at: www.itunes.com), iTunes is big fun, easy to use and has lots of features all in one app (elswhere always multiple apps), so it can import and convert CDs and other sound files, supports AIFF, WAV, lossless codec at half size, mp3 and aac. It can burn CDs and DVDs (either mp3 or audio) just simple 1 click out of playlists, you have internet radio integrated and lots of other stuff (like Covers and printing them, etc. etc.) (also music store in US, but that's not my thing (yet)).
And it has a very very good music library for a great organization like no one else has, like search everthing on the fly extremely quickly, sort all files automatically (creates all folders and subfolders itself), very smart playlists (for a example can play all your favourite songs, witch you didn't hear more often then 5 times and didn't hear them in the last week, etc.), a party mode, and a lot more!
(maybe wmp 9 has nearly the same organization of library, but it's crap therefore ;-)
