Force Feedback, or rumble.
I have tried a few experiments, with a playstation 2 pad, one ended up with my hands being numb, one ended up with too little feedback, and no sound, and my most recent me thinking I am not the person to do this.
Please can we have force feedback?

The PS2 gamepad isn't really force feedback. Rumble is a better description for what it does. Force feedback, I think, would be like in driving simulators, where if you were trying to make a hard turn at high speed, the controller resists your input as if you were driving a real car.
True CP, but dual shock* works on a simaler princaple, it involves a left force, and a right force, and a centre force, most forcefeedback games feel ok on the ps2 pad for this reason =p.
Would be nice, but probably not worth the effort required right now, IMO. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how difficult it would be to implement force feedback on Mac OS X, Linux, & Windows, especially considering the many different types force feedback controllers here are?
Force feedback!?!?!? You want the devs to waste time on coding for specific controllers when the game is in the state it is in!??!!??!

Im just hoping for a one day, you know, Soon(tm) I have seen various threads here with this mentioned, and no official words from the devs, I suppose I just want to know should I carry on trying to impliment it for myself? Or will one day this just automagically work.
Im not a programmer, although I do have a little programming experience, and I could (have already attempted with some succes) write a universal forcefeedback for at least 2 of the platforms supported (I have no idea about MAC OSX), it doesnt need to be for specific controlers as forcefeedback is a bit standardised these days. (my stick translates forcefeed back signals into rumble, the devs dont need to do this.)
[Edit]
But the more recent audio changes have made my personal project somewhat less hostile on my hands, but converting audio feedback to ff is a lil more feely now, i just wish I could hold my pad without feeling it abusing my hands, hehe
