In-Game Private message mailbox?
I would really like to be able to leave messages with my buddies and others online so that they can get the word i've sent them the next time they get online.
I don't know if storage of such messages is an issue. If it is, just limit the size and number of messages one can recieve. In most cases the message would be very brief anyway.
Not a big deal, it would just be a nice convinience to us. (or at least to me) :)

There is a "note" command ingame for leaving messages for others already. Perhaps try that first, see if that is what you are talking about adding. =)
Doesn't /note only work for buddies?
If this is implemented, make sure it follows the /ignore principle.
On top of that, throw in a spam blocker along with virus protection. I don't want spyware on my ship's computer. :-P

It might be neat if your station computer had a "Email" function.
It would be its own Station Tab, and it would allow you to look at letters from other players.
This would also make interguild communiques easier to keep track of, since the points could be laid out in paragraph form, rather than in the limited IRC channel format.

Why make it station bound, should be able to access that info from your ships computer.
Interesting idea. Tribes 2 had an in-game e-mail feature and it worked relatively well... as long as the servers were functional.
It is a nice-to-have feature, but I wouldn't put it at the top of the list. Plus, we want Guild developers doing just that: developing... not administering one more server in their "cluster."

I'd also like a feature for sending notes to myself. There are plenty of times when I'd like to make note of something I've discovered in a particular sector, and I just can't remember all of it.
Pencils! You can write things with them!

Heh, somehow I expected that response. But digital data is always easier to sort and analyze than data written on paper.
There's still /buddy note as was mentioned before.
I personally don't know how the receiving end works as I have never received a note, but I do know it's very easy to send notes.

notes pop up the first time you log in as the appropriate character after the note is left.
you can only have 1 note from any single person
once the note has been displayed it is gone from the VO servers, and the only way to view it again is to scroll the chat buffer.
