Basic duel suggestions
Newcomers like to post a lot of suggestions on what they just discovered. I just began duelling regularly, so I will be no exception :) A couple of suggestions:
- set a ping limit for duellists: you should be prevented from entering into a duel if your ping is too high (set it high enough for non-US players, though)
- simplify the commands: /duel accept or /duel decline should be enough when you are challenged (all the more since the name seems to be case sensitive) EDIT: also the duel should begin when both players are challenging them at the same time

what ping is "too high?"
Uhm .. you can be challlenged by two players at the same time. I think that's why you have to enter the name.
@CP: others are more qualified than me to judge this; i guess that above 250-300 the lag starts to play too high a role in the fight
@spuck: first, you may keep the option to specify a name; second, the duel should start if two players are challenging themselves at the same time (I edit the initial suggestion to include that)
@CP and spuck: those features do not come from the top of my head - they are long time implemented in the ICC and nobody complain about them :)

ICC?
Internet Chess Club
and that needs ping under 300? What is this, FPS chess? You have your pawns charging around, shooting diagonally at things around them, queens rushing around the map killing everything in sight? "HAHA! My Rook sniped your King from across the map!"
CP, I think he meant the duel commands
LOL, CP.
CP, try to play a game in 1 minute and you'll get an idea why ping is important.
Well, in fact, reading again your post, I'm not so sure.
Anyway, it's very enlightening.

I disagree that /duel accept should put you in multiple duels at once.
I would suggest instead that /duel "name" should challenge or accept (as is applicable).
A very large ping gives you a disadvantage not an advantage. Pings in the 100-200 range change the fight for both players, causing misses by a small amount to hit. So why disallow people with high pings?

I just feel that there shouldn't be ping caps on duels. That would lock out a potentially significant portion of the Vendetta community. If someone who has a high ping wants to duel, that is his right. It is the responsibility of the other party to realize that the other player has high ping, and accept the duel at his own risk.
damn so every time i duel Lonestar he has a mysteriously high ping of 300-1000 :P
and is per def. impossible to hit/kill
