new minning tool
I suggest a frezzing beam for miners
does not have effects on players
that beam decrease a roid temperature

already suggested i think, but...
yeah. alone, it should be barely worth it, but if you are group mining, there should be a exponential increase in effectiveness when there's multiple beams.

Yeah, that sounds great!
It should have some limitations tho'
Maybe a high lisence level, takes a big slot, weight should be high and it only does -0.5 K/sec
Also, if a roid ever reaches 9K it should become unminable until it heats back to 10K on it's own. That'll put some skill into it aswell.

It'd be crazily unbalanced*. But whatever... unbalanced seems to be the idea of the day!
*Why? Even if it only did -0.5K/s, you could still have 5 people mine with Mk2's and 4 people use the "Cooling Beam", and mine a Heliocene or smthg roid forever.

Hmm... What if one cooling beam and one mining beam creates 1 instability point.
Three instability points makes the roid unstable and it will produce enormous quantities of the mineral known as "Useless spacedust".
Would that work?
That way, two cooling beams could slow down the heating of the roid ("Hey, let's bring along a CoolerMoth to speed it up a bit, and it can carry alot of minerals back for us too..."), but it would not be a Helioceneothon.

I'm w/ roguelazer on this, if it actually cools the 'roid, it would be too good. Mining already makes people oodles of money very quickly, it doesn't need to go any faster.
What I could maybe see though, is more heat efficient mining beams, that would have very low heating rates, but also low extraction rates. But that might be too easy for AFK miners to abuse.

I'm really ok with imbalanced things if it makes people work in larger groups, group work has been lacking and it would be really nice if there were really big advantages to groups.
I'm with Dark_Phoenix on this one. I think it would be a good idea but make it only like -0.2K/sec.
Groups are already more efficient at mining, and probably almost half the mining I've done has been grouped. And I usually play at off-peak times, when there's not a whole lot of people available to group with. And this freezing beam would not only be good in groups; use 1 in one port in a Moth or Centaur, and you just became way more efficient at solo mining.
This would be too unbalanced. The way to encourage group mining already exists. The more beams on a roid, the less its heat is. Adding a cooling beam would only make things worse.
