Slight improvement to Flechettes

I agree with Rene, I really could care less about when newbies get em. But it will be more fun for everyone, including the newbs if they have a wide array of weapons to specialize in.

I think anyone who thinks license levels don't matter should start a new character from level 0 and as they level up spend some time flying around the universe.... interacting with people and bots in general.

The opening game is what will make or break Vendetta... in all probability a newb will decide to stay or get frustrated and quit within their first few hours. Therefore I think that it is *crucial* that newb weapons are balanced with each other with as much meticulous attention to detail that is given higher level weapons.

If there's one single critique I have of Vendetta, it's that there's far more high level content than intro content, both of which are important for maintaining a healthy MMO population.

Once you go back and experience newbdom again, you will find there seems to be a gap in conventional light port weapons around level 3 between the plasma cannon HK and the neutron blaster. I think the flechette cannons could fill this gap nicely.

phaser,

I started a char from level 0 not so long ago... and I sure didn't feel it.

My only beef that i had was that there was no beginning energy large port weapon...

If newbies will quit the game then it is because of lack of interesting missions, in stead of the lack of a weapon. Since those are far more gamebreaking then any additioinal weapon you throw into the game.

Besides really how many people do actually use anything but a neutron after they have it, I always went for the highest velocity weapon, and there was more then enough diversity for me in that regard

cheers

Come now, I have a Neutron Blaster MkIII, but my weapon of choice is actually the Mega Positron Blaster, not any Neutron Blaster (although I do use them as an auxiliary weapon). Even when piloting a Valkyrie Rune, I still favor Sunflare Launchers over Neutron Blasters, and have witnessed other players who prefer Gauss Cannons over both Neutron Blasters and Mega Positron Blasters.

Agreed, but just how many players use Flechette Cannons? I have used almost every other weapon, but never one of these. It seems that many other players currently consider them the most useless weapons, and nobody has ever recommended one to me for any purpose. Other players say that they just don't do enough damage.

That seems a useful application, but even in this case, its usage is very limited, and it needs to be accompanied by another weapon (in this case, a Neutron Blaster MkIII).

If Flechette Cannons are to be used more often, they will need to have wider useful applications than just accompanying Neutron Blaster MkIII's as auxiliary weapons.

One immediate application that I can think of is increase the spread, and use them to discourage heavily-armored, highly maneuverable ships such as the SkyCommand Prometheus from repeatedly dodging incoming fire from multiple fighter ships while staying in a small space. I have repeatedly seen such heavily-armored ships dodging incoming fire from as many as three smaller ships, only to flee as soon as anybody fired Chaos Swarms at them.

An extremely wide-spread, medium-density Flechette Cannon would be the answer. One player could spray the heavily-armored ship with a Flechette Cannon while three other players swarmed over it with Neutron Blaster MkIII's. The bigger ship would be forced to flee. This would be a very effective battle tactic.

that comment was untill you come on the higher level stuff and was a simplification.

Since I didn't bother using the iceflares nor the starflares, nor any of the the other weapons that didn't have the highest velocity(untill combat 5 - 6).

But normally people are not regarded as a full fledged newbie any more once they pass beginner combat...
