Tweak the ship coloring system
Ship coloring could become a lot more involved in the game, rather than a rather arbitrary clicking of a static pallet of colors. First I think that different nations should offer different sets of colors, and certain nations with which you have respect could offer to repaint your ship with the colors they offer. At the same time I think it might be nice to offer guilds a certain color of their choice which could be chosen arbitrarily about the universe.
Beyond the political reasons, different nations could charge different prices for paint jobs. So say I'm UIT and I am a member of a guild which selected a green color as their guild's color, I could then paint my ship that color for maybe 1000c more than the normal price of whatever ship I choose.
Pricing might include a few factors, such as the what type of color (Nation/Guild), repainting, and standing, such that an Itani with low respect from the Serco nation could repaint their ship with their guild's color for 5000c or something relatively expensive compared to the price of a ship.

Im not sure about charging money to paint your ship. At the rate we go through ships in this game, we'd go broke that much sooner. Although I do think it would be cool if the coloring system did get a tweak.
Well, you could always choose a stock colour and not pay...
Each guild should have its own colour and decal that the ship no matter what type it is carries on it's front, sides, underside, and wing(s).
Also there should be other decals that you could wear if you are not in a guild, Vendetta would be much more interesting and cheerful if it had this.
Guild commander must submit decal.

Price for a paintjob in different stations should be based on your standing with that faction.
Should be able to use a color wheel or RGB color bars to select any color we want, not some preselected color pallet.
Definitely need to have decals, player submitted and either guide or dev approval necessary. There should be a way that a guild can globally change the decal of all guilded ships to reflect a common insignia, color is players choice, unless guild has other rules.

Finally someone likes my ideas.

Overkill, are you taking credit for katarn's ideas? How do you know that he was agreeing with you, and didn't come up with them independently. And how do you know that these weren't brought up nearly a year ago?

CP, many people have requested this feature. It really doesn't matter who thought of it first so shush. I figure that Overkill was just happy that someone else was thinking along the same lines as he/she was.
