Faction Upkeep and totally unrelated stuff
So I was thinking, why do these factions keep selling us their ships, when we never do anything for them?
Perhaps you should be occasionally approached by factions which you are admired by, with specific missions for you to accomplish. If you decline, or fail, you drop down below admire. For mutually exclusive factions, this upkeep might drop the standing of the other faction.
This would make "Getting every ship in the game" difficult, since you would have to choose your factions and adhere to them.
Orion standing would not be 6 bulk missions, it would be a commitment.
On a Totally unrelated note:
I was thinking of a new wep, the "Tank Buster". Or otherwise known by its name in "Ender's Game": The Dr. Device.
this would be a wep which by its very nature would be less useful on lighter ships.
Its damage would scale with the Mass of the ship it hits.
So a light fighter could bring one, but maybe Only deal 300 dmg per shot against another Rev C. Against a Moth, it might deal 2000.
Would have to be at least 1000 kg. But it seems interesting.

Totally unrelated tank buster gun: Would add some very cool variety to the game, but depending on the numbers could be too good. I'm thinking cap it at 2000 damage at the very most, maybe 1500 or less. And make it very energy-hungry, and minimum of 1000kg mass, maybe as much as 1500kg (that way a Valk w/ one tank-buster would mass a little more than Tri-N3). Oh, and what's the mass of the Cap Ship?

[stamp of approval] on faction upkeep, provided it only considers the amount of time you're online and not directly helping them, as opposed to time in general when it calculates reputation attrition.

After thinking about it more, I think I suggested nerfing it too much, right after it's been suggested. I still think it shouldn't be made too powerful, but if everything I said in my previous post was done, it would probably nerf it too much.
