Medium Ship Updates?
Are there going to be any changes to the medium ships soon? I would like to see the hornet actually become a usable ship, since it's pretty much impossible to use for anything at the moment. If it had a bit more thrust and spin torque, it would be able to dodge more than just the slowest weapons since it's such a big target - it would be a great ship. Just wondering...
Yeah I would like to see either variants that have a greater improvement or just an outright change to some things.
The Warthog could also use a little something. Preferably spin a or armor boost.
But yeah the Hortnet would be useful in large scale combat though sicne it can equip rails or rockets to fight the big ships like the Cap ship.

i would absolutely love to see the hornet become a competetor. it provides such an interesting option with 4 small ports... its wasted right now.
i dont like the fact that a ship exists like the hornet that just ISNT used.

But it should be stated that the Hornet shouldn't become too quick on its feet. I think it's something of a medium support ship faster than a Rag, but more lightly armored. It's meant to be a pounder. Able to take out larger support ships, and large fighters, but if it goes toe-to-toe with hogs, vults, valks, cents, etc, it is quickly outmaneuvered (okay, so the hog would have a tougher time out-maneuvering the hornet, but it has an l-port, so that probably evens things out nicely).
Exactly. But it should get a more moderate "heavy ship makeover" like the heavy ships did recently. Up its weight, increase its thrust and spin torque. Actually, its weight is probably fine - fully equipped, it can be up there with centaurs. But it does need something to make it worth even having one. At this point, it's not useful for anything.
And as for the hogs - I wouldn't mind a slight increase in thrust or spin torque, but I think they are pretty much fine. But I certainly wouldn't complain if they could manuever a tad better :)

yeah, a slight spin torque buff for the hog would be good, and maybe a little thrust bump too.
The main problem that the hornet has is that all the ammo-based weapons are really heavy, and all the energy based weapons drain too much to be used en masse with 4 ports.
I really think it does need a little heavy treatment (mass and thrust increase) so that you can carry the heavier small port weapons, but mainly its waiting for the battery tweaks to come through, and that's what'll actually sort it.

What about making a variant of the hornet as a turret in space? Almost all of our ships today are optimized for general use, and this is a great place to drop in something specialized.
Give it relatively low acceleration/top speed, but the turn & spin torque of a Centurion, and plenty of armor to take some hits. Sit that thing at a wormhole with a few cargo carriers, and have it snap off rail shots at incoming CtC transports.
