make the viewpoint where the cockpit is? or maybe not
i know this would totally screw up a lot of people who are used to things how they are.
but its getting ridiculous.
when you shoot in a moth, the beams appear above your point of view. but clearly from the pics, the cockpit is way far back on the ship and very high.
on a centaur, when you mine, you can see both the front
and back beam as you mine. but clearly, the cockpit is so far
forward on this ship that you shouldnt be able to see either one.
----
in fact, most of your view should be blocked by your
hull, especially the behemoth.
ok but i guess there is 'magical viewpoint technology'
that makes you able to pilot your ship from any perspective.
ok... then why have cockpits at all?
is it so that when your 'superview' gadget goes out
that you still have a chance to pilot ship back to dock?
ok then.

Well technically these ships shouldn't have windows since they would be to easily damaged...
I would like to have a viewpoint from the cockpit though.
I wouldnt worry about realism anyway since this is a game in space with sound, wndows, etc.

i assume the windows are made of 'vismetal', which is described in
the station cargo description as strong as metal, but see through.

Your "First-person" viewpoint is based from the ship's center of mass/gravity, according to Incarnate.
Probably because that's the easiest place the put the camera.
But as a temporary stopgap, ananzi, try this: http://www.evula.org/virtualgoo/vendetta/hog_cockpit.jpg

OMG Crip, that's GREAT! ROFLMAO. I hope you actually fly around with your screen like that. ;-)
I've often wondered why bots have cockpits. I'm guessing that the shield thing isn't really a cockpit - it's just a sensor package or something and your display is whatever you see while being jacked into your ship.
So yeah, auto-magic ship erasing sensors.

Excellent CrippledPidgeon! Do you have one for all the ship types. They should come in the boxed version.
i think it would be a really brilliant idea as another one of the "F9" settings.
a game that actually has some of the best view-point options is the X-Wing and Tie-Fighter series' by lucas arts. they have great cockpit views as well as fully functional clear displays.

Crip that setup is off the HOOK! Can I get my ship outfitted like that?
CrippledPidgeon, you mockup looks an awful lot like the Descent 3 cockpit (that I always disabled).
Hoax, my setup is yours with just a simple roll of masking tape and a marker. (cool-ass buttons not included)
