One or the other needs to be slightly nerfed. I've been using a prom sc for a while, armed only with my trusty AGT, and have flown circles around... well, flown circles *with* centurions in it. The AGT is there to allow large, more poorly manueverable ships to have better aim, not make incredibly manueverable ships not *have* to aim (or at least, this is what I thought).

Please, either make the AGT quite a bit heavier (1000kg - the weight which seems to make the difference in how the prom handles - Shape can testify to this one) or reduce the thrust/spin torque on the SC. The armor is fine, it can't be expected that a huge, armored craft can be taken apart in one shot by a centurion, but it handles way too well. It's about like flying a territorial defender. Just has a bit too much heat on it for its weight. What does it need that huge thrust for when it's lighter than the regular proms and centaur, but it has fewer holds? At least take it down to Aggresso levels. It gets around find with its thrust and it weighs a heck of a lot more.

I am not an incredible PVPer, but I am when I have a Prom SC with AGT and empty small ports.

BEFORE you go off shouting "NERF THE GT" all the time, make sure its * usable on a Warthog too.

Take your bloody Violent warthog out with that single GT and even -try- to move around. you get completely blasted by even a gauss vulture (!!!)

Now add another tonne to that? * MADNESS.

So then, lets nerf the prom! NERF THE PROM I SAY!

or wait. Can you even -USE- the prom with another weapon than the GT right now?

Point me to a single * L-port weapon that isn't total crap in combat against the light wasps.

Yes, I can use the hog with the AGT (especially the territorial defender). And yes, I can use the Prom with other weapons, although there aren't any other good large port energy weapons for PVP.

And it was just an idea. I actually prefer Mr Spuck's solution more. In fact, I wasn't even shouting. I was just trying to think of a solution to the nearly invincible combination of Prom SC + AGT (with no s-port weapons). Bite my head off, why don't you?

the solution for the unbalancedness of leaving 1 port open could be by adding a penalty for not using all the ports.

The Hogs loose nearly half their maneuverability when you stick an AGT on them. Adding weight to the AGT means that Hogs would be sitting targets. Okay, even more of a sitting target than they are now.

the GT and the prom need tweaking. both are too easy to use. and don't even go telling me i'm all Itani and I couldn't know how a prom handles... I've used it... I thought using the centaur aggresso was cheap, but the prom!? ridiculous... no skill required. you can sit there and let someone hit you. no worries, you have 20 THOUSAND armor!! just put of your shooting for a few more minutes while the ship tries to hit you, then you can just rocket ram them or blitz them with the beginner-suited AGT...

Yes, Spuck, I liked your ideas on the prom in your prom post. And I didn't mean for this to turn into a flame war. I was saying that I use the prom and agt, and it really *is* too good of a combo, so I thought that one or the other or both needed an adjustment. And Apex is right, because of the prom's huge armor, I can be plenty patient with the agt and don't need to aim very well in any case since the agt handles like an unloaded hog. It's just too powerful a combo at this point.

I've always thought though that making the agt do a little less damage per round but increasing its weight and rate of fire a bit would help. Make it more like a better targetted gatling cannon, you know? What would you guys think of that?

As far as the prom sc itself, I think that it needs a slight reduction in thrust/torque. Make it handle about like the aggresso, which is fair handling in a heavy combat ship.
