New Game Idea "Control the Sector"

Deep space scans was revealed a new sector on the boarder between Itanit and Secro controled space. It would appear that the wormhole has not reached critical mass as of yet, but is rapidly approaching maturity. All woremholes are important beause of the need for inter system travel, however this particular system has raised alarms on both sides. A single sector in this system has several wormholes in it that reach deep into both serco and itani space. While these routes could prove to be important for inter-Serco and inter-Itani space, of greater importance is the military potential. The ability to strike deep rapidly in enemy space will prove to be an invaluable benifit. However, controling such space will prove to be a difficult endeavor.

The game should work by timing the time that one side controls the space. The winner would have the most control time for the week. Control would be defined as haivng a ship remain in a small (but not ship sized) box for 30 seconds. After that control falls to that side until the opponents are able to take control of the sector.

This would encourage the mass partasin meele which to some extent has been lacking. Most people who are looking for action go into sedina or other pirate controled space where they know that there will be veterans waiting to take them on. In this game, players would be able to both get in on action, and fight for their side. This would also be a great game for the cap ship once it becomes part of the fleet. The cap ship will be able to dominate the sector will relative ease, but due to the importance placed on the sector, the opponents will be encourage to use team work and tatically selected weapons to smash up the cap ship.

The winners of the week sould either recive a weapons bonus, a liscense requirement reduction. (or anything else the decs deem acceptable.)

I like this one. It does seem to have potential for encouraging PvP but without the cargo delivery - thus the action is concentrated.

Something I'd like to throw in is an alternative way to establish control. An NPC ship representing each nation could fly around the sector. A player would have to destroy the opposing nation's ship(s) to establish control. Of course protecting your own nation's ships is a useful tactic as well. UIT could be represented in this with ease giving a true 3 way fight. At the end of the round the time your nation's ships had survived in the sector would be totalled and a winner declared.

we're already goiong to have a border pvp party when the cap ship is finally finished and updated. I'd like to see a more non-pvp like the post. PVP can happen any time and anywhere by people simply showing up in the same spot. It's finding stuff to so when there is little to no one on that's the challenge.

I wanted to use this as a way to decrease noob harassment too, because if yo want a fight, you know where to find one. That way hopefully every noob who has to go through sedina doesn't get whacked by some trigger happy pilot.

i like this idea, somehow it remindes me of the battle over antartica in Stargate SG1.

Anyway i would recomend that controle of the system could be defined as having a ship within the majority of the wormehole zones. just a thought
