another cap ship thread

this is a very rough idea but maybe someone will take it somewhere...

a little while back someone wrote a very articulate and well thought out (unlike this one) thread about how one should have to collect resources to build a cap ship. i like this idea. heres my 'twist':

how about each nation is always building a cap ship at some point, and the resources needed for them are delivered by the cargo convoys that currently comprise CtC. the speed at which these capital ships are produced would depend on how the players of each nation could capture (or protect) the cargo being transported and bring it back to their nations 'dry dock' or whatever. for example, if each nation needed 5 of X mineral to complete their ship, and there was a Serco convoy carrying 5 of X minerals to its shipyard, it would be up to the itani players to intercept the shipment.

i realize this is very rough but i thought it worth sharing.

I like this idea. It would make the actual numbers in CtC more important, rather than just which number is greater.

I think that tieing in the ctc to cap ship construction is a brilliant idea, though that should not be the only sorce from which the caps ships get the resources needed for the ships, there should also be a set amount of stuff that needs to be mined by players as well. But I like that a lot. Adds a reason why all the X-Rite is being shipped in the first place.
