Finally! A difference between the nations! If you choose to be UIT your noob character is more likely to be killed!
Boy, it is a hard life living in the UIT! :)

I personally like being UIT and I know the dangers make the game more exciting to me. I'm happy when I can sneak through to Odia and deliver cargo without getting killed.

"UIT space is meant to be a little bit less safe than the other two nations, and it makes sense too, why should a *loosely nit union of corporations, merchants and explorers* that has no real power, have a millitary capable of defending all the space they claim?"

Well, the UIT is essentially based on trade, so naturally everyone involved has an interest in securing the major trade lanes. I really find it difficult to believe (story-wise) that the UIT corporations couldn't get it together enough to adequately police the space lanes that make their existence and continued profitability possible.

I have no problem with pirating in greyspace, in fact I expect it. However pirating in UIT space should be made much more difficult than it is now.

Edit: To make matters clear, my initial post (aside from the UIT issue) wasn't to say that pirates are ruining the game or anything, just to lament the fact that some are using dishonorable or cheap tactics.

I agree with fprefect on the badness of the easiness of the pirateness in UIT space, although I'm not sure of any simple solution.

Well, today, I happened to come upon the creator of this thread. I was in Sedina B8 with Tramshed, when suddenly I see a message, "don't kill me, I just want to kill bots" (paraphrased). At which point I inquired what he was doing in Grey? why not just go kill bots in nation space?

He said he had come to buy a ship. An atlas.

Well, I'm not one to allow traders to make a mockery of the danger of grey space by reaping all of its benefits without the threat of danger, so I splashed him.

Would you believe the tripe that My message screen filled up with? I mean, that's just plain rude, He CLEARLY understood the way greyspace worked, (as he has been active on these forums), and suddenly I'M to blame? I'm the griefer? I killed you once bucko, in the Number 1 pirate sector in the game. And you were in a defenseless, easily caught atlas... WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?

I put him on ignore, and that was that. But players need to realize that everything can't be safe and cheerful, if we made a separate territory just for PvP, they would go there too.

I don't know why I'm ranting, the devs understand. But this type of player really bugs me.

Well done Shape! This is exactly how he reacted when i wasted his Atlas in Bractus, which funnily enough is what then lead me to hunt him in Odia... har har har...

When people beg me not to kill them I ask for 20-25K, if I don't get my money then I start shooting. (note not paying me does not mean you will die only that I will shoot at you ;p )

If your in grey space have money to pay up or don't come to grey space at all, as we will (try) to send you back to your hame station. :D

okay to clear some things up. One I'm an Itani, not UIT. Two, yes Shape it was a stupid move, sorry about the ranting and all that crap, you were right. Three I didn't get a chance to bribe Icarus he just shot me and moved on without taking my cargo or anything. THAT is what pissed me off. He did it for no other reason than to annoy me, and it worked. If you are going to kill someone, at least do it for a reason such as getting money or cargo, don't just do it because you feel like it. Whatever, it's not like any of you pirates will listen to me anyways. Finally, I did jump out of the sector and into what I thought was an empty one, but I got caught in an ion storm and couldn't outrun him.
