Color Tags for chat channels
This may have been mentioned but I didn't see it in the list. Don't shoot me if it is, it's early and I hate post diving.
It would be nice to know who you are speaking with in terms of nations while in the universal chat channels (/100, etc.). Simple fix IMO would be to add a color tag to the name of each pilot. For example:
(channel)[name]: "Message"
Where the "(channel)",":" and the "'message'" are in either the dark blue or light blue that they are now, and that the nations color be the "[name]" part of the message. So for Itani it would be a bright blue different then both the blues used for chat channels now. For Serco, RED. And for the UIT, a golden yellow color.
Simple really, and I know there used to be color in chat channels from the screen shots on the website so I know this can be done, and the code probably already exists.

Yeh bring this back devs! :)
I posted this reccomendation the same day channel chat was introduced (ie the new universe). They said maybe.
I just leave #vendetta-ingame going on my laptop and look over if I need to know what nationality someone is. This requires two computers though...
I also do that, though I play windowed, but it would be yet another issue that could be added to the UI list of fixes. Just something that came to mind last night while I was playing. For ease of game play.
just a bump and an example of how it should look

-should-. But the GUI code is ugly, and it's probably not easy to fiddle with. I know a1k0n was complaining when I suggested that the current mass be displayed on the HUD between the credits display and the miniship picture (where it is now).
I disagree with this idea. I kinda like being able to chat on 100 w/o anyone knowing what nation you're from. That way to can be seen as unbiased. And if anyone wants to know what nation you are, just ask!
if you what to know who someone is then just ask for a command like:
/whois
it would return a value such as:
/whois Deathguard
Deathguard {Guildnamehere}
Nation: Serco
3/6/2/10/11
/whois
it would return a value such as:
/whois Deathguard
Deathguard {Guildnamehere}
Nation: Serco
3/6/2/10/11
didn't we used to have a /whois and /whereis?... or am I just dreaming up weird stuff again?
You're just dreaming and remembering our IRC channels, CrippledPidgeon.
What color would guild chat become then? And PMs? Peripherally you can distinguish 3-5 colors when engaged in other tasks. So how often are you going to miss a guild message amongst all the yellow UIT conversations? or miss a PM in the Serco conversations?
the color headers will muddy the impact of the attention grabbing effect a PM has with it's red text.

Why not just put a nation tag infront or behind the name. Like this:
Ch: 100 [S]<blub> meow!
Ch: 100 [U]<blab> wuff!
Ch: 100 [I]bleb yawns
(Not that I care. I always have the active player list and/or IRC in the background)

I agree with tboyz007 if you want to know who, what I am just ask if I want you to know I'll tell you, I'm paying the $$$ to play so it should be MY choice to tell you. or alt+tab to active players on-line.

Well it's already as simple as having a web browser up and looking at the active list, this just makes it easier. If your soo parinoid about people knowing what nation your in perhaps you are doing something wrong, or are way to xenophobic. This is again an enhancement so that you can get away from having to use yet another command line request, which takes you out of game and potentially into a dangerous type killing situation.
Honestly, you don't have to put this in, I've just decided to use the irc as a chat window and forget the ingame UI all together for text cause it's way to complex with mission window and chat window, did I press a g or a G, t or "shift" t, bla bla bla, so do as you all like.

I like this suggestion, and I think that if you're going to use intergalactic chat systems, you should have some kind of a tag associated with your name. For the paranoid among you, maybe they could offer a disguise gizmo that would change your nation display on the HUD and change the color of your chat.
lol na I do like the Idea, I just have fun pulling Johnhaw218's chain, don't ask me why, it's just fun. LOL
