TPG Atlas X and Others
Could we make hold volume on most ships a multiple of 3? That way we could at least carry a full load of 3cu crates and be able to easily estimate how many runs a bulk mission will take. Especially the Atlas X where the hold is 38, which means that while it seems like I should be able to get 38 phase array crates in three trips (38 crates at 3cu should mean three trips) but because 38/3 =~ 12, it takes four trips (unless this was intentional to keep it a weaker trader than the maud/centaur).
Yes, please.
why? it's practical for some cases, yes, but reality isn't always practical. the heavy transports make sense, but other ships, no, not really. heavy transports should probably be multiples of 2 and 3 both -- but I don't see a great need for it -- it makes you pick ships by task.
Well, once upon a time there was a TPG manager who said 'lets make it all go in multiples of three'. But he was a manager lacking skill or experience, and he decided this design changed needed to be pushed through three weeks before deadline. TPG brought out the Edion III ship, which had three engines and 39 cargo bays, and wound up killing 33 pilots in its first 3 weeks of release because of 300 untested inertial dampers.
So they don't use the number 3 much anymore.
Or that's what I heard anyways.
