Force powers?!?! We're flying space ships, not molesting fairies in bottles or poorly acting while waving around a light saber. How about we get more variation in ship types, weapons and missions before we start adding arbitrary nonsensical abilities?

Rogue, my sentiment exactly. I agree that there should be other character attributes besides license levels, differing properties between serco/itani blood. But not in the line of D&D spells. :|

So stop thinking of them as "Force Powers." I winced when I saw that subject line. But as I read the suggestion, I actually liked it fairly well, as soon as I stopped thinking of them as "Force Powers."

I read the suggestion and can't find a way to look at it that makes me like it.

How about "according to the backstory" the itani get a psi shield.... like they had. And Serco get their cloak (like in the backstory).

And please "Noone say NOO you can't do this it will unbalance the game!" It can be done.

Honestly, I think "force powers" or "psionic powers" or "mutant powers" or "gen active powers" or whatever would be altogether hokey, gimmicky, and rather stupid for this game. I know that "the Force" works in Star Wars, but it dances a very very fine line between it working and it being a rather silly idea.

"Itani psi shields," and "Serco cloaking devices," maybe.... but I really dislike the idea of supernatural/paranormal events in the Vendetta atmosphere. It just doesn't fit with the feeling of the universe that's been established over the last two years, IMHO.

I have to agree completely with crippledpigeon. Force powers or psi powers or whatever you want to call them would put a big damper on many peoples enjoyment of this game. the last thing we need is another starwars like game. I do however immensely enjoy the story line and would love to see the Itani shields and Serco cloaking devices added to the game at some point. Players would be able to obtain these only once they have achieved a high level of experience and money. The Itani have to purchase their "energy focus" and would have a very limited useable time limit due to the severe drain it would put on the human body. Serco would have to purchase the addon for their ship and it would severely drain the battery therefore reducing the time before they became vulnerable again. Both would require a extremely high standing with their nation. (aka 900+)

Im not exactly sure as to what to do with the UIT though. I think they should have some sort of special ability but Im not sure what and or how to give it to them withtin the confines of the story line. Ive seen the idea of since theyve been in space so long by themselves and being the inventive scavengers that they are maybe they would get a sort of bonus on mining somewhere as well as bonuses in trading and buying/selling due to their extremely good bartering skill learned through generations of perfecting.

If you add force powers, what'll happen is that a few veterans/compulsive levelers (like what I've become) would get all the powers and everyone else would get none, then we'd all dominate everyone and everyone would die a terrible death...

Also if those crazy monks get their shield and the Lady Serco get's her cloak, it should be NATION ONLY! And not only that but you MUST not be admired with the other nation. This would make nations.... well nations. Versus everyone's a pirate. It would make you proud of not only your nations special ability but also of your special ship. Now itani's don't get all upset and say this is a bad idea cause your valk is fatter than my prom. The devs will fix the valk situation.

While special science fiction powers work for some games, I really, really, really (x100) believe it would absolutely destroy any shred of enjoyment that anyone gets out VO.

Aside from that, everything the developers have made progress in so far would have to be thrown out and started from scratch if such an idea were to be implemented.
