Then what hope does UIT have against the Itani Goliah Cannons and the Serco Frigate?

UIT don't need anything against it, they're neutral. Individual UIT players who decide not to be neutral will likely side with one or the other, and so will only be up against one, not both. If some UIT are just dead set on fighting both, it's probably because they enjoy dying in extravagent ways.

Oh, and the Goliath Cannon to counter the Serco NPC Frigate is just my hope, not something that has been promised by the devs. Most likely the way Itani will fight it (at least at first) will be lots and lots of Valks & Cents & Rags & everything else, dying lots. But the Frigate WILL go down, eventually.

I'm also thinking it won't be very long after the NPC Frigate comes out that we'll have player controlled Capital Ships, so it won't be just one side with the Frigate anymore.

We just waste it building stuff, we dont use it for 'good things' like... war. In the Serco/Itani mind our backwards society needs to be 'civilized' (and them getting the mineral rights sure would be nice too wouldnt it)

Comparisons between the UIT and Switzerland would be bad, on account of the fact that, while they share strategic signifigance, UIT isn't what we would call inaccessible. That being the case, in order to remain neutral, they would need a way to defend themselves and their sovereign corporations.

You think the Corps are just going to sit back and say "Oh, well, I'm sure that the serco and itani won't make any attempt to consolidate our framework into their own structure, So we're not going to defend ourselves, AT ALL"?

In my mind, the Serco and the UIT are like China and Taiwan. Well sorta. At one point in Serco history, the Serco governement becomes corrupt and tries to oppress the merchant class. The merchants leave Serco space for what's now UIT space. The UIT declare themselves independent of the Serco, but the Serco refuse to acknowledge their independence because the merchants were such a major part of the Serco economy. To the Serco, UIT space is Serco territory that has been temporarily occupied by the UIT, and they intend on reintegrating the UIT into Serco society. The Itani recognize how strategically and economically important the UIT are to them, so the Itani support the UIT independence, and as thus, treat them as a separate entity from the Serco Dominion.

Yah, but one should note, that the taiwanese have a VERY FINE air force. Why do you think they've gone so long without being invaded? Its not like the US recognizes them.

Yeah well Taiwan and China now have direct flights and half the stuff we buy is made in one place or the other.

Im sure the moderate Serco, like maybe Lin or Ruby, would accept autonomy for UIT. But there are extremist Serco like yoda who think that 'all space is Serco', and UIT are 'roid farmers' and 'target practice'.

So until the moderates take over Sercoland, the UIT has to keep in defense mode.

the uit come from serco and a little itani, the itani think there better then everyone else and hate the serco(us) the serco know they are better then everyone else and the UIT think they are the best, they also have the most resources, and biggest space (if you include gray space)

Ofcourse, OP suggested Itani get this, but they have their Big F..err..Fine Guns, so we (UIT) should get the "animal training" skill VendettaStyle and "train" bots to follow us into combat.

I dunno about bringing bots into combat yet, as that could easily get abused, but once we can claim space and stations id like to be able to buy bots to defend my territory while im away, etc. Imagine, you warp to Spamcannon Stronghold, you see 20 red blips on the radar, you realize they are arklans, you explode. mmmmmmmmmm

I absolutely love the idea of "tagging" a queen as mine and bringing it with me around on exploration or cargo runs. Hell we could make UIT the bot herders nation, supplying bots to other nations and having their stations guarded by them too.

I'm trying to rap my mind around what exactly happened with the bots. We made them, they rebelled. Did we throw all our working bots away? Destroyed them all? Did we abandon robotics as a viable work force substitute/slave labor? It would be nice to see nation loyal bots around still, unless there is something in the back story which would negate that. And it also could lead it's way into player owned or rented bots for mining and protection/repair services, even combat.

Actually, there are a few nation-controlled bots. In CTC, the convoys are usually guarded by a few collectors and some assualt/guardian bots that are Serco or Itani aligned. The only real difference is that they won't shoot you if you're friendly and you lose standing if you kill them.
