As I'm a little worried the idea that I brought up in the Prom Revenge post will be lost among the now 92 posts (it should probly be locked soon). I'm posting a link to it now.

On the same note, can we get some low damage high velocity weps?
I would LOVE to use Ion blasters, or Phase blasters, but the speed of them makes them pretty unuseable against proms etc...
Wouldn't it be nice to have light fighters which could outdodge most ships, but could at most, "peck" away at the prom's armor?
I hate that the only high velocity weps are ones that have great damage potential to begin with. You don't get to make the decision between light, low damage weps, and heavy high damage weps. Since the low damage weps have the velocity problem as well.

I like this. It hurts me, as a UIT person that I can't get any weapons that fire at the (insane) 215m/s of the Neut3.
The best I can get is the Neut 2 (185m/s) or the Axia Positron (200m/s) which is a much less effective energy stream style weapon.
The other issue is that the Neut3 is so good that it makes the CtC a bigger deal than it should be. It's just a game within a game. It's not worth getting worked up over.

The problem with making the N3 a "normal" gun is that even when it was reduced, its still -far- higher than the comparative guns, and -quite- upsetting the gamebalance.
new nerf on Neutron Mk III incoming?
well i quit CtC for good.
look at the stats:
3)Neutron Mk II
velocity : 185 | damage: 600 | Mass : 600 | 11/cost energy
2)Positron
velocity : 200 | damage : 800 | Mass : 500 | 18/cost energy
1)Neutron Mk III
velocity : 215 | damage : 600 | Mass : 400 | 14/cost energy

I looked and I said "Hmmm so how come the UIT don't get to play with it."
It is an insanely good weapon. You've left out the delay on the weapon Ayn which makes a huge difference. It allows you to form a much closer group of shots that's much harder to dodge.

Perhaps this is a niche the Flechette can fill? Up its velocity, down its damage/energy/weight?
-:sigma.SB

perhaps.
maybe the Neut should take a bit of a cut in Velocity, down to 210/205, and as I said in the other post, should cease to be a special. The CTC could be an interesting way of adding new weps, rather than a fight over the same weps.

or just make a special version of a rocket available for the serco and a special neutron for the itani dependable on who wins... or who looses. aka serconian jackhammer and Itanian Neutron blaster
If you for instance loose, the opposition gets the special weapon as a way of saying you suck so hard as a nation that you need a special weapon to win :D you big cheator :D

lol, that's great. "Come on guys! lets win this one so that we can get beaten next time"
shape, the weapon would not be mindboggling special but normally the wins are for honour and not for items. At least that is how I see a ctc.
example if the normal neutron 3 is as we know it now, then the special one has a higher velocity of 5 and 1 point less nergydrainage.
If the jackhammer had a 3000damage 25 prox detonation 85m/s speed now, then the serconian one would become 3500 damage 25 prox 90m/s speed.
Even if there was no reward, I would still join in it just for the honour of the itani camp. Just as capture the flag was for the honour of the itani camp and not for the uberitem...
PS: is there any chance that we might see a capture the flag mission and setup in some of the undesignated grey space? Maybe only as a groupmission or... I miss grabbing the flag from between those flagprotectors and then dodging all those swarms thrown at me :D

I'd love to see a combination of a random weapon reward and a limit to how many each player could get. that'd make CtC really worth doing again, and even if it produced a really great weapon (or hey, ship?), limiting the number that could be stored would be goodie.
so, every CtC-run would yield either a weapon (of which a player could buy 5-15 of, depending on participation in CtC and standings) or a ship (1-3).
the weapons should be generated from the stock versions with some bonuses, like add an average of 10% bonus to the weapon, on all specifications. for one CtC victory, one might get a Neut with 10% higher velocity than an MkII, 6% faster fireing rate, 11% less energy, 7% less weight etc -- and something similar for ships.

I liked the idea of the CtC prizes being different.
Itani win, they get the neut III
Serco win, they get a better Jackhammer or plasdev or something.
That keeps the whole system working like it does now but keeps the CtC important for both sides.

bump
to limit the number of neut3's or serco verson (plas dev, jackhams, etc.) make the units you can buy be the number of units of ctc cargo that you have delivered for the appropriate nation.
Maybe a set of 10 weapons from which one is randomly chosen per week.
crippled,
will be announced in front what the reward will be, or will it be a surprise ;D?

I vote for surprise.
I also like the idea of Serco and Itani getting different weapons.
maybe 5 random serco weps, and 5 random itani weps.

How about five weapons that get progressively better in stats? So you would have the neut2.5 for Itani (midway between n2 and n3) as the lowest, then something slightly better than the n3 for the highest, with a gradient of weapons in between. For serco, the same with rockets or an AGT variant.
Then, instead of CTC being winner take all, make there be point-breaks for the amount of cargo each side delivers. So if the Itani get 1000 deliveries and serco get 1500, then the Itani only get the second worst bonus weapon(n2.75) while the Serco get the second best (agt2).
This way there's incentive to keep playing right up to the end - you might not win, but you can still maybe boost your nation up a notch in which weapon you receive.

interesting idea star, I like it
