Performance Tweaks
I have not been able to get in the cockpit much the last few weeks. so little that I have had updates load the last two times I played. What once ran really good at moderate video settings on my slow computer, now are slow and choppy.
What kind of Tweaks have been done to the graphics engine ? Because now it has almost ruined my game play.
Could we get some coding tweaks? Sure my computer is very slow, but I was originally so exited about VO because of the good performance on my system, until now.

Maybe if you post something about your system others would be able to give pointers?
I haven't noticed anything slowing down lately, but it might not apply as I use the Linux client and I have no idea what client you use....
Maybe it was something else you did? Did you upgrade some drivers, maybe?

I run a Mac with a 466 mhz G4 processor. with a Nvidia Ge Force 2 video Card. I have 1.12 gigs of PC 133 memory too, so memory certainly isn't the problem. no recent OSX upgrades either.
I use to run with all video settings at maximum, now after the last two updates. I have to go to the lower settings to have the same frame rate. kinda spoils the game play.

well, a G4 466 is not what you call cutting edge... the game uses Open GL, and that's very CPU intensive, a new graphics card won't help much, even though your GeForce 2 is also hmm... outdated.
I run Vendetta on a G4 1.25Ghz with Radeon 9k Pro, and yes, performance could still be better. In sectors with many roids I get serious problems, even with graphics set to medium.
That's not new.

Laika the fact remains.
The game ran fine for him before, now its choppy.
And yet, no apparent graphics improvements can be seen in the game.
It is only natural to wonder if anything has changed.

As far as I know, nothing has changed in the last few updates.
So that makes it very strange indeed. Did you install any new software recently? Maybe there's something running in the background that is chewing up cpu.

Sorry, was a bit tired when I wrote the first one, I stand corrected.
A good way to check out if something in the backround of OS X has changed or runs mad is to create a new (OS X) user and try vendetta on that account.
Repair permissions, do the usual stuff, if the performance is still that bad, post again.

The weird thing is that I ran Photoshop in the background once. things were slow and choppy, but I figured it was photoshop. The next time I ran VO I had everything off, usually standard for playing games. Some how I had pretty much the same performance that time as when I had photoshop in the background.
I will certainly agree that it is time for a computer upgrade, but that will not be too soon in my financial future.

Are you sure that you didn't accidentally turn the "shaders" option to On? Because that will kill your FPS on a mac (blame Apple, they refuse to fix the driver bug).
