Player-Guide Communication
<Universal Commands>
/guide --- Lists /guide commands.
/guide online --- Reports either "There is/are # Guide(s) online at this time." or "No Guides are currently online." This helps new players know if they can talk to a guide in the first place, either with an assistance session or by standard chat.
/guide locate --- Reports, if a guide is online, that "The nearest guide is 'x' systems away." This command only tells you the general location, and never tells you the name of the system. *
/guide request "reason" --- Requests assistance from a guide. This initiates an Assistance Session in which you have a one-on-one chat with a guide. During this session, the guide *is* able to chat in the channels and private message other players. * **
/guide cancel --- Cancels your request. In case you change your mind. *
<Guide-only commands>
/guide accept "player" --- Accepts a request from a player.
/guide end " player"--- Ends an assistance session. Use when the session is finished or you feel the player on the other end has nothing more to learn from you.
/guide assist "player" --- Forces an assistance session with a player. Used to enforce Vendetta Online RoC (rules of conduct) and to warn players of bad behavior.
<Chat Interface>
/say_guide --- Only available during assistance sessions. Used by Guide and Player to send chat to one another. ***
* Looks for the Guide that is closest to you by systems and is not currently in an assistance session. If there are two or more that are "closest" and not in an assistance session, it picks one randomly.
** For the "reason" variable, the terms "griefing", "harassment", "bug", or "questions" would give the guide a general idea of what you need:
--"***Player would like your help on some questions."
--"***Player thinks that he/she is being [griefed/harassed], and would like some help."
--"***Player thinks he/she is the victim of a bug, and would like you to help check it out."
*** Needs a new chat tab for this to work properly.

Yeesh! My chat log would be huge!
No need to have the command for "locate", since guides can easily locate any player and go to them instantly, regardless of proximity.

A way to petition a guide ("request") would be a good thing. Been on my list for a long time.
Adding a special tag to the beginning of dev's and guide's names (like how npcs have a *) would help (newer) players identify these important people more easily.
