Gamepads/sticks vibration
Realising that keyboard/mouse nav is somewhat of a limitation for me in CtC (for _me_), I recently acquired a gamepad for a somewhat more "freestyle" flight control.
Kudos to Vendetta for recognizing this w/o any driver installation: a Logitech RumblePad 2 on Mac OS X.
There is one feature of the gamepad that's not supported by Vendetta: force feedback (aka, vibration).
Under Mac OS X (10.3 & up), the ForceFeedBack framework should let Vendetta use the vibrations supported by whatever gaming devices.
This should also be a plus for those who are earing-impared (not my case but it's been suggested before to have visible cues for when missiles are launched against you).
Impact collisions and missile ought to freak me out a bit more and so should energy weapons above a certain %age of my ship's hull.

that would be a nice OPTIONAL feature when the devs have time. :) personally I hate the feedback vibration when i play games, it's just annoying to me.
your the minority Spell
yoda was trying to tie the force feedback of a PS2 DualShock 2 controller in with the bass tones, but because he couldn't control the intensity of the force feedback, he ended up having numb hands from the vibrations.
I prefer to think of myself as being one of the chosen few john. :)
anyhow, minority or not, there's no reason not to make it optional. vibration and feedback can never actually reproduce in reality whats happening on the screen, so it's only an indicator that something is happening, not what specifically.
Now, If i ever get enough money (yea, right, never gonna happen) to build an actual ship simulator, on hydraulic arms that responds to the control inputs and ship directional changes... then i'd be all for force feedback.

Dont get me drooling.
As far as gamepads/stiks are concerned, though, most have a switch button for forcefeedback.
