Mining Bots
Now, we have mining stations, that are just like every other station, kinda. What the need are bots roaming their sector mining the roids to make the mining stations actually feel like mining stations. These bots would return their bounty to the station, thus decreasing the value of the local ores, making people have to look for the more uncommon ores.
What a novel concept, boy, sure wish I had thought of that one…
No really, I like it, wish it was in game but there will be someone to come along and say it's a waste of dev time. =(

nice idea! and should be simple to implement too!
mmmm, the only problem with this is that all the good Ores are at the stations, lie apecian and helo, and it's almost impossible t try looking for them with sectors that have tycorp assaults, (te ones that gang up on you)
maybe one way to balance that out is to make it so that we could CLear sectors of bots temporarily. say 1 min for collectors and 5 min for guards and 9 min assaults

It is probably within your skill to scan asteroids in Tycorps sectors if you get a Centurion Mk III. If they get close, just turbo away. To mine in those dangerous sectors, you can hire some wingmen to 'drag the bots'. IE, the wingmen shoot each bot once, then run away, eventually accumulating a swarm of them. The miner is now free to mine the sector.
Now, if you want incentive to explore bot fields, let me give you some hints: in Azek there is Xithricite, Pentric, and Heliocene outside of stations. In one certain sector the Pentric is only protected by collector bots. In Pyronis, there is Pyronic and Apicene outside of stations. The Apicene is protected by low level Collector bots. In Latos there are huge icebergs of Denic, not just at the wormholes. In Helios and Jallik there is Heliocene in unmarked bot-free sectors. There are probably many more examples to discover.
Some of these examples can give you 1,000-2,000c/cu just for selling in the same system; for now anyways, until people discover them and the markets crash, which has already been happening.
I feel that the more we learn about the ores, their locations, techniques to extract them under difficult conditions, how to transport them to markets, and how the markets work, then the more our opinions about the mining system and its balance will change. My opinions have already changed from just 2 weeks ago. I have often felt that more 'incentive' and 'opportunity' should be there for miners... but I didn't realize how much is already out there waiting for us to find it.
However I do agree that some moderate miner NPCs would be pretty neato, for feeling if nothing else.

Kinight of order, this would only be at the mining stations.
This is a pretty cool idea. Please nobody turn this into a player-controlled mining bot thread.

Ok I JUST thought this COOl idea up. How about we have player controlled mining bots!!!!!! That way I can be even LAZIER and make money while I make money doing something else!!!! Sure everyone would have them and the price of ores would go straight down to negative 0 but still!!!
