Put faction standing in char info page.
How about letting a player know not only what levels and medals a player has when we select them but also their faction standings? So BEFORE attacking iwe will know if they will cause you to lose faction standing becuase it is high with a certain group.

if the radar was updated to reflex the faction standings better it would not need to be listed.
Imho no need to let people know your standing ... they just should take care a bit more what they do.

or take 5 seconds to get to know there victom before they blow them up, they might actually tell you there standing if you ask, should try it. =)
I dont like the idea of anyone knowing what my faction standing is, however I can see one exception.
If you have +600 or more with the faction who's station you are at, that faction could tell you how they feel about other players in the sector.

Perhaps some kind of a badge for those who achieve a faction of 600+ that shows when inspected. Of course it would disapear if your faction dipped under the 600 mark.
Why not make the radar -work- for once, and just display players >600 as green dots?
REMEMBER?! Thats tooooo easy… =|
I've got some ideas about this, but I'm too n00by. I need to play more and learn more first. I'll just say that I don't think faction standings should be universally available knowledge -- part of the risk is not knowing the other players' standings.
Logically speaking, players shouldn't know each other's standing unless like Solra said, you are admired. Game-etically speaking, I would rather find out standing without any conditions.

Player 1 has +700 standing with faction A and B
Player 2 has +700 standing with faction A and -700 with faction B
how should Player 1 see Player 2 on the radar?
green? as they both have +700A
red? as one has +700B and the other -700B
What happens if Player 1 kills Player 2?

This is one possible way radar could work:
If a player is in a monitored or guarded sector, their radar color will be based on their standing with the faction that monitors or guards that sector, green for admired or better (possibly respected or better), red for anything worse. If Player 1 has +700, all other players in the sector would see Player 1 as green.
In unmonitored space, radar color would be based on each players home nation. If Player 1 is UIT, and Player 2 has -700 standing with UIT, Player 2 will appear red to Player 1.

That's IMO exactly the way it should work. That way, in nation space, red radar blips are only "social deviants" whether you're a pirate or not.
