request: please give the frigate to the Itani
devs: i realize that y'all are working hard on bringing back the frigate, and since i arrived too late to see it the first time, i'm thrilled at thr prospect. however, i ask that you consider letting the frigate belong to the Itani, and obliging the Serco to attack it.
i suspect that the frigate mission will provide a task that will be well suited to the Ragnarok and the Wraith, especially if you also reintroduce a certain high-yield unguided weapon that existed in days of yore. however, i would expect the Prometheus to perform even better at frigate-killing.
the Serco complain ceaselessly about being the cannon fodder of the galaxy. please give them a task for which their special ship is well-suited.
i ask now only because i suspect that it would be much easier to make a change like this before introducing the frigate rather than afterwards.

... lol
actually i could say serco got all disavantages
CtC = longer route than itani
Ships = Our Nation ship our prometheus is still worstless
and we are less numbered as players
all i could say.

Ayn, read what he wrote first, having the frigate is neither an advantage or a disadvantage, he just wants to see avalons back, and a prom might be better for that... it's just a suggestion. Quit acting like he stole your carebear. :P
mmmm, well after reading the background story on itan i wonder why they would have the cap in the first place, they shouldn't like big ships, not only that, but because they value there life so much, the should be trying to make friends with all. witch by the way is OPPOSITE to what i have seen.
example you say. ok be glad to, when i started i was UIT and was on a trading mission from UIT space to SERCO space, i then was waylaid and attacked by 2 itani pirates. with no warning, no nothing BOOM. i guess it would not have been so bad if i had a fast connection, but i have 56K so one second i am flying toward the wormhole the next thing i now BAM am an hit. and me being in an atlas for crying out loud.
so then i went Serco, and stayed in my space (were i heated an asteroid to 110,000k. and i noticed one ting in particular. i never ran into a serco while doing anything. (exaggeration i now) so then it dawns on me, of course I'm not running into Serco, there all training for the cap ship that is supposed to leave space dock ing a few weeks, to protect us from the itani raids that happen so often.
you now my mother used to scare us with stories on itani raids when we were kids, she said "if you don't go to bed right now, when the next raid comes i'll let them know where you are."
it was only later that i found out that she was not joking.

We're not training for the cap ship. We're fighting for our nation, and losing. Look at the Cargo Captures page on the left.

haha nobody wants to have the frig...
the reason might be that it will be easy to destroy if it is like it was in the alpha.
And do not expect anyone to defend it. You cannot defend a ctc transporter, you won't be able to defend a frig.
If I would be sarcasm, I would say "So it might be logic that serco gets the frig."
But I believe in the devs. uhm... actually I hope in them.

The reason the friggy was so easy to destroy back in the day was that it didn't move.
When Gentu was first introduced, right around E3 2003, she had a good cover. Furies swarming all around her, shooting anyone that came close. For a while, the preferred method of attack was popping into s17 in a rag, unloading whatever rockets you brought along and then zooming away to dock, repair and reload.
Then some wise-guy figured out that if you get really close to the hull of Mrs Battle Cruiser, the furies would back off and the turrets would ignore you. There was still the problem of actually getting close to the ship itself, but any pilot with a bit of skill could do it.
It stayed this way for a while, but then an AI update came.
That meant that the furies would now shoot you no matter how close you were to their large friend. The method of 'landing' on the frig was all but eliminated. Unfortunately, the AI update also made the furies to accidentally ram the frig to death every ten minutes. Killing Gentu wasn't quite as fun anymore, so everyone stopped and the furies went on with their merry ramming.
After a while, some update got rid of the furies and made a large roid in the shape of the battle cruiser in the middle of s17, which by the way, where the term battle cruiser comes from, since if you were to target the roid its name would be listed as 'Battle Cruiser.'
For a few months the empty, rotting hull lay dormant, sometimes visited by a bored traveler, but mostly ignored and forgotten. At some point, however, someone(a lot of people) got the notion that the frig ought to be a station, so when a dev popped on the idea was pushed through and within minutes you could dock in the small port below the big fin thing. All the ships were available at that station, so s17 quickly became the spot to put some serious hurt on everyone around you.
Of course, it didn't last forever and after yet another update it simply disappeared.
Eventually, however, it came back, as a ship with turrets but no support team 'round it. This version was a complete pushover, because in addition to the landing trick to avoid the turrets, someone figured out that it had a blind spot at about 75m straight in front of it. If you were to position a ship there, any ship, the only thing you would have to worry about would be moving out of the way of the nose part when the asplosion happened. This is probably the best known version of the frig known today, since it is the most recent.
Here, have some screenshots.

Actually, genka's history is extremely accurate. Here here, n00b. Anyhow, this new one should be much more fun. :P
Nice history, Genka.
P.S. Yeah, do give the Itani the frigate. It's pointless to make us defend it in Proms from hordes of Valks. We need something to be good at.

Solra, you're only "losing" because it's the beginning of the week. Check again come friday and saturday.
Yes and give all serco in the immediate sector 5000 combat xp when it's blown up! and give the itani 5000xp in the immediate sector when we lose a "destroy the frigate" mission. ok ok it's too much xp but noone better post "But how are they supposed to do that?". Just a suggestion that we need some xp when she goes kaboom.

Hmmm...
As an itani I would much rather blow up a frigate than defend it. Maybe every week it switches?
Though if that idea works, and the devs are already done with lots of the coding involved in who it belongs to, I'd say leave it. Give it to use sooner than later :D

On the other hand...
the backstory _does_ make serco the obvious nation for a cap ship...

I don't think it does. Both nations are supposed to have numerous cap ships.
I want to see the Frigate take on the Goliath Cannons. ;-)
As far as the backstory goes, I could see either nation having capital ship(s), it wouldn't contradict anything either way.

Better yet how about we get those goliath cannons......?
The Serco can have the cap ship if the Itani get the Goliath Cannon. Cannon is plural and singular people.
Both is acceptable (from dictionary.com):
n. pl. cannon or can·nons
Also, I'd rather kill the frigate than defend it.

it would make more sense if the itani got the cap ship - then they could escort it in their light fighters against the serco who are better suited to bombing.
