Ok.. the issue I worry about is that we'll have station camping become a major issue again. I guess we could perhaps compromise and revive the defense-turrets with a shortened aggressive range or something? Eh, dunno. Station camping was a bit source of annoyance for some people. I loved the old S7 combat (you guys know I used to hang out there and duel with you all), but I'd like to find a compromise that doesn't result in some people being really annoyed by an.. annoying minority.
Yeah, I actually kinda get that John, maybe make a dead station? The reason I suggested Corvus NFZ be removed is basically for the station battles, not to make *grey* more dangerous. Maybe a *dead* station sector, that is undockable, that maybe even has a few of the NPC style ships from the *Border Guard* style missions, but it would be a good arena for a fight, and would obvioulsy not allow for station camping. (The only reason a trader type would goto such a place is to be nosey, and obvioulsy station camping could not happen, you cant dock/home)...

Station Turrets = Awesome Idea
Just make them have a short range, but high velocity high powered gatling turret. No more station camping as that thing will tear you to shreds pretty quick, maybe a gatling railgun
[EDIT] Might also wanna make the turrets have a memory, that way a person cant just warp in/out, they gotta leave for say two minutes.

And dead stations would be cool too, make em like jungle gyms.
I love the dead station idea. It could be battle scarred and full of damage.
You could even incorporate an enclosed (arena) area inside it for slightly more "interesting" duels.
and tunnels running through it too :D

Here's something that came up in #vendetta this evening.
What about that the guards aren't removed completely, however due to Corvus lacking manpower, they are unable to have full-time coverage in all stations. Therefore the station guards are on a bi-hourly (or so) rolling schedule. Where they move between stations (not the capitol, which is always covered) and try to enforce the law.
This would add a bit more "random" element to the area, without making a single place the static Frag-Fest.
Perhaps you could even go as far as to dispatch StrikeForces from the Corvus capitol only, and let them traverse the universe towards the offender, therefore giving a bit more time and space to any kind of attack.
