Wormhole disruptors!!! that'll stop those infiniturbo'ers
Ambiguity!!! That'll stop them durn know-it-alls!
Anyway, I don't think the power to block up a whole wormhole for an undefined amount of time should not be available to just one player. Something like a special ship, several of which would have to be positioned in the right way around a wormhole to prevent people from warping through it is the idea I have in my mind, but my mind is a bit crooked...

Crooked indeed but sometimes something useful spews forth.
How bout a small squad of specialized medium sized ships that set up a dampening field. The biggest problem I can see is that there is a wide area in which the wormholes can open from. You would need to cover the whole thing to get it to work. That is if the devs even want that to be in the game.

Another issue I see with this is that blocking an entire wormhole would definitely not sit well with everyone that would like to get through. Some of you might remember the time when the syndicate took over the s10 station.
I think it's sufficient to say that the blowback from this action was severe.
A less inflammatory warp disrupter might be some sort gun that prevent the hitee from warping for the minute after being hit.

That's kind of like the energy draining beam someone else suggested right? Kills your battery till it can charge again, in essnce making them a sitting duck. Right?
I was thinking more of a thingy that leaves targets without the ability to warp, but otherwise in a good position to defend themselves. I can handle people shooting back, it's the running I'm not a fan of. But I suppose such a beam could work just as well.
Well I'm more with you, a beam that can disrupt wormhole jumping without disabling the ship would be more accpted I would think. Worst case, they just jump out of that sector and take a different route or wait out the attacker.
He who controls the wormholes controls the spice… wait, I mean X-Rite =)

hmm.. if this energy-drain weapon has a one-time momentary effect, wouldn't it make more sense to make it a rocket or missile?
maybee a tractor beem with a fairly long range (800m or so) that when activated acts like a mining beem but instead of extracting minerals it prevents the target from jumping out of the system or from activating a wormehole. if the target can get out of range of the beem they are good to go, but as long as the beem is locked on they are stuck.
Alternatively the beem could disable turbo, or posably interfear with batary charge in some way. (perhaps an advanced version stops turbo as well as preventing wormehole and system jumps)
I envision this weapon being sold only by factions located in grey space. I expect it should also have the same energy drain as the charge rate for a heavy battary. That way the beem can be maintained indefinately but interfears with the attacker's other weapons somwhat.

If you used said beam then it would stop functioning when they ran out of energy correct? Better hope you not planning to attack after using something like that unless your using a railgun or something like that.
There are some great ideas here on how to put it in in a 'fair' way. Given that this is a fairly complex piece of equipment it could need to be 'tuned' to certain engine signatures i.e. serco ragnorak or a particular persons ship.
