I think you should be able to earn combat piloting xp for every bot you destroy like in the beta, rather then destroy 5 ships just to get hardly any combat piloting xp. It can become really hard to earn combat piloting xp when you get past lvl 3. Plus I think you would get more people hooked to VO.

^^^ Exactly, doesn't have to be a lot just a little bit. Its dreadful thinking about how long it will take to get to next lvl from 3,4,5,6, etc.

There are supposed to be more complex, interesting missions coming at some point. Things along the lines of the corporate espionage missions, but not as, uhh broken.

Those missions will hopefully give larger XP rewards.

I think it would be a mistake to add combat XP for incidental botting anyhow, as I see the Combat Pilot XP being more of a universe wide reputation telling factions how well you can complete tasks and missions they set out for you. Maybe it needs to be renamed to something else.

Okay, but I find it odd that after killing 20 collectors, the mission states that you no longer receive the bonus unless it is a Dentek collector. Yet there is no way you could even hit combat level one with that few bot kills.

As a new player starting out, I am finding it very time consuming to simply get level one combat (I am really tired of the free battery). Without changing the game, are there other activities I should be doing in order to increase combat XP more quickly? Such as taking on tougher bots or PvP? Does death negatively impact combat XP? Do I get XP for hits without kills?

Okay, I'll stop with the questions now.

Hi Tripped :

(a) Abort the mission after you kill 20 bots. Retake it and you don't have to kill denteks. (Unless they fixed this exploit-like thingie, though I think they shouldn't). Anyway, denteks are not hard : just go to a dentek only place and kill em.

(b) Once you ahve reach level 3 you can take Adv. Combat Mission, which i am sad to say give only slightly marginal more XP, but with much harder bot missions (which you'll eventually figure out how to do it after 10 deaths).

(c) You don't get XP docked for dying, unless a bounty has been placed on you (which you don't have to worry for a while till you start raising hell :)).

(d) You don't get XP for hits without kills.

(e) Keep asking questions : the documentation in this game suxor. But can't really blame the devs with their hands full...

I would advise *against* this option, as your XP bonus per 5 bots killed continues to increase after the first 20. Further, Dentek and Artemis Collectors provide a greater bonus per every 5 killed than the Oruns.

I think the mission does this when you kill 20 bots in a row without dying. It then ramps up the difficulty level thus ensuring the player will get larger weapon experience as well as a larger combat bonus. Leveling up on orun collectors alone would be even more tedious.

Also if you hit a bot and someone else kills it you get XP for the assist.

Okay, so the general gist is to keep the combat mission, and focus on Denteks. check. I can do that, Denteks aren't hard. But what if I went after an Aputek guardian, or whatever it is called? It's not part of the mission, but would I get combat XP for killing one (many?) and would that be a greater amount of XP than the Dentek slaughter mission?

if it's not listed in the mission specs you will not receive combat xp, but, you will get weapons xp for which ever weapon type you used to kill the bot.

actually the Artemis Collectors are the collectors that have the highest amount of weapon XP so they would be the best ones to kill in the basic combat mision.
