"System Chat": Could we have it Back?
I believe only alpha players will remember this mode of chat. System chat, as the name implies, is a mode of chat that is local instead of only to your sector, but to your Solar System, accessed through the command line /say_system.
The output would look something like guild/group chat, only in purple colors:
[Azek J1] <ExamplePerson> This is an example.
I think that now this method of chat has a use, now that we have more players online than we did in the alpha.

Channel 11 for nation chat. I think. oh....
Bumped because it is still relevant and we were just talking about it in 100.
I agree. We need system-wide chat.
Why?
neah, what we do need is making chat again coloured towards nation later on, or faction if kos with normal nation
For pure, unadulterated fun, moldyman.
Also, to provide a possibility to coordinate stuff system-wide without cluttering 100.

I believe System Chat would be a beneficial option, and I'm curious as to why it was taken out in the first place. As for team chatting, one simply has to designate a certain channel to the mission at hand. Yes, security is then an issue, because you can't monitor who might be listening, but then the same would be true about team chat.
I wonder if anyone else has caught on to my trick of joining every channel within 3 digits? Oops, did I say that aloud?

That might work, except, there's 65536 channels available, and security through obscurity is actually more effective than you would think.
Not to mention, channel 11 *is* team(nation) chat, so if you chat on that channel and are serco, you'll only hear other serco, same with UIT on the same channel.

Waaaaaaaay more than that break. Typing /join -1 brought you to 4.2 billion I think...
Yeah. There are 4,294,967,295 channels to choose from.
Anyway, if I remember right, the old chat was dumped in favor of the global chat because there were not enough players. System chat was one of those things that was taken down with the old system, but really shouldn't have been. It's a rather useful chatmode, especially if you consider the amount of noise that would be taken off of 100(Not all the noise, but eh).
