CTC Surplus Suggestion
>>Cross posted from General to Suggestions as per requested by da moderator.
I agree the surplus is a bit ridiculous. In fact, I am all for doing away with the surplus all together, or nerf it down to, say 5-10%. (and yeah I am Itani :)).
It's exciting when things are close. When you get a 500+ head start, it's not really fun to "win". Like Pidgeon said, a 100+ surplus is hard to make up.
If the devs want to give an advantage, I suggest the losing side gets an extra convoy (or an extra transport in a run), say every hour. This would give them an advantage, but not too much that it becomes pointless to play.
my 2 creds.

Erm.
Lets look at the stats here:
Its -easier- to attack than to defend.
Itani have more players than serco, this reflects both online, and in the CtC. Proportional to population.
Its -easier- to attack than to defend. (again)
so you propose that to give an "advantage" you should make it even easier for itani?
.... I fail to see why having more convoys to defend, something that is more time consuming and harder to succeed with, as well as something thats less rewarding (no reward) and requires more players?
Sheesh.
yes, I find it fairly obvious that you are itani.

Spider... remember we've only won 2 cargo rounds, and both of them were when the serco weren't trying as hard as usual (from what I could tell) or when something was wrong on one or both ends of the launching timers.

:/. It is a game dude, just trying to give my 2 cents.

So? Just look at the amount of players that has participated.
However, its true for us as well, it -is- easier to attack. 6 active defenders can't keep me from taking out all transports and grabbing enough of the cargo to get away and feel good about it.
So, increase the amount of transports, and all you do is to make it easier on the other side.

A 100+ surplus isn't so bad if the attackers and defenders are well coordinated and work well together. A 1000+ surplus is damn near impossible.
I calculate that if the Serco were to kill and steal EVERY Itani transport and protect EVERY Serco convoy, given that they're all single transport convoys, given that an average of 7 cargo is carried on each transport, and given that there's one Serco and one Itani convoy every hour, it would mean that to overcome a 600 cu Itani surplus (what it was at the beginning of last week's now extended round), the Serco would need to deny the Itani of ANY and ALL CtC cargo for 43 hours straight. To overcome the 1200 cu Itani lead now, the Serco would need to absolutely dominate the CtC competition for 86 hours, meaning 3.57 DAYS of total domination.
Now tell me that isn't somewhat discouraging.
Celkan: The one round that the Itani won on release (there are two on the page, but if you notice, the surplus that wasn't present for that round was added to the totals) was because the SAF unilaterally decided to minimally participate in the CtC to work on levels, trading, etc. We wanted a major comeback for this round, but it just didn't happen.

nuts to the surplus. it sucks.
