Lost in Empty Sector
I found myself loosing track of buddies and even a hive queen including escorts in empty sectors. The problem is ofcourse that there are no stationary objects in such a sector that can be easily seen from a distance.
However, we do have the sector list, so all (N)PCs in the sector are known at any given time.
My suggestion would be to allow targetting any (N)PC from that sector list, not just the targets within 3000m. I understand that, for various reasons, it is not feasable to extend the radar to, say, the entire sector, but being able to target one object and know where to fly to to find it, would greatly improve my playability.
Ofcourse I felt kinda dumb when I finally commenced my first duel, then lost my opponent :) I jumped out-and-in of the sector, but then realised I also forfeited the duel itself.
Because jumping out-and-in of a sector does bring me close enough to some target, there would not be anything inherently wrong with being able to target a random object from the sector list.
The other night I was fighting a hive queen plus escorts with a buddy, but the queen was following my buddy while I fought off one of the overseers. After I killed the overseer, I found myself lost in space. Imagine, loosing a hive queen. :)
Okay, I also have frequent close and deadly encounters with asteroids and space stations (note to self: they do not dodge, you should), so me feeling kinda silly for being lost in space is perhaps not the best argument for this suggestion :)
I wonder where you end up if there are 2 objects > 6000m apart from each other in a sector. You would only be able to see one. Is that a random result? Or the object longest in the sector? Or such that you can see the most objects?

You can target your group members like that. Indefinite distances. And really, groups are great for cooperative combat, makes much sense.
You can also duel your group-members.
However, being able to target anyone who's running from you, hiding in a sector, or otherwise? doesn't seem that good for me. Suddenly the idea of going out of ways in a sector to mine in peace is just crap, and whenever I feel like killing somone, I'll just browse the common, empty mining sectors and target the players, see they are way out there, run over and kill them before they realize. Don't you like this idea?
