Suggestion "disaster recovery"
I think it would add a very interesting element to the game to have a random disaster element. For example, say the Metana system sends out a game-wide distress message alerting of starvation. There could be a bonus given to those ships that answer the call first. The bonus would be to the areas of faction standing(both yours and the faction in need)and trade and commerce. The events would occur in all systems eventually and there could also be a sliding scale as to the bonus depending on how far you had to travel. The disasters could include earthquake and flood (building supplies), famine and disease (food and medical supplies). What do you think? Let me know. Thanks
hmmmm, IF done on a very random and rare basis, it could be interesting. If there is a disaster every day, it would start to get old.
Additionally perhaps the call for aid would only appear in the news tabs of stations that are within X systems or a part of the same nation/faction....

your right, it would have to be a random rare event and since the newspaper is in place it would be the best means of communicating the event to the players.
I think its a good idea if implemented as Spellcast suggested.

Good idea, it would be good if it was exteded to include interfaction fighting. e.g. Serco forces are detected approaching an itani border station, the call for help goes out, any itani who help with the defence get a faction standing bonus or something.
Sounds good to me, so what about 10 weeks from now we may see something like this, maybe…
one a week or....one every rare random time would be very cool

yeah, i thinks is brilliant as long as it is infrequent and the location is often random... although i guess it has to be in gray space to be fair, and perhaps it would occur more frequently in asteroid belts...
How about something like "its last transmission was in B-9 and it was headed to A-4"? so now its uber difficult to find and the reward is stupendous.

I like it it most certainly will add game play.
