I Just started playing the Trial, And I really enjoy Vendetta. I wasted many hours on Ambrosia's Escape Velocity sires, and this has many of that games features as well as being both a 3-D Space combat Sim, and also Massively Multi Player.
The Game runs very well on my old computer, and the graphics are pretty good, But the planet images are terrible in many sectors. Very blurry with blocky pixilations around the outside. My Graphics settings are all at high, is it an anomaly only on the Mac Platform? If the planets are only background images, really beautiful "Jupiter like" planets that have detail would be great. Turning planets with weather patterns, and day/night transitions are the next step. For now I would just like to see better Planet Images.

shock, try adjusting your graphics settings some more... the planets look great on my macintosh. In particular, if you set the background detail to Very High or Extremely high, the planets look great, the only problem is if your graphics card can't handle it you may take a hit in frame rate.
Perhaps you would consider posting some screen shots so we can tell if this is a bug or not?

Just looking at some of the other posted screen shots, and they look so much better than what I have seen. I will try some adjustments as was suggested, My Mac is pretty old, so it may not help. Thanks for the tip though.
Actually, even with graphics set to their highest on a 6800GT, some of the backgrounds are a bit blurry...
Anywho, shock, what are your system specs?

Seeing all the settings at High, I didn't notice a higher setting for the background quality. It worked and my planet pictures are much better now. Thanks for the help.
One strange thing, originally many of the planets were very pixilated. especially around the edges. changing the quality to very high, or super high, made it all better, but when I went back to see the other settings for the lower qualities agian, they were different. blurry, but not the blocky pixilation as before.
I am running OS 10.3 on a Mac 466 G4, with 1.12 gigs of memory, and a Nvida Geforce 2MX (64 mb I think) video card... old system, but it holds up good with this game!

I've actually noticed that many of the planets actually do rotate. The ringed planets look very nice from nearby sectors. I've got the background set to Extremely High (which doesn't seem to drop the frame rate too much).
perhaps we could discuss specific planets, in specific sectors?
I know some of the moons look terrible for the wrong angle. The texture is applied as a shrink wrap or something, because you can see he two collection points. I've mentioned this before, but its probably right down the bottom of 'the list', just after 'fix the valk' ;)
The background planets could get terrible sometimes on my mac due to a driver bug of some kind. I'm not sure if this has been fixed, as I haven't played on my mac for a while now.

I've yet to see more than minor graphical issues of any sort, using both Linux and Windows, save weird framerate drops.
You might want to make sure your drivers are current, then repost this to the bugs forum if it still continues to be a problem.

on my computer all the plantets and moons look great. very little if any pixelation is visible. and extreamly high is working for me. no drop in framerate. or none that i can tell of anyway
