Change position of mining progress bar.
Most of the time, I find that I can't see the mining progress bars because of the bright mining beams. Wouldn't it be a good idea to move it, maybe to the top of the centre bit instead of the bottom, or otherwise make it more visible?
Thanks.
Thanks.
That would be nice although it is really easy to work around, just turn
should you really have to "work around" a bad design idea???
No, but I think it's fine the way it is. I would actually prefer it there than at the bottom of the screen.
I find that no matter where I turn, my ship just reorientates itself to block my view again. I think the progress bar would be fine at the top of the middle reticule.
Or even put it right under the percentages of possible ores, you really could put it anywhere but where it is now and it would be better. Personally, I just go into third person like most everyone else. But again, should you really "have" to do that?
Okay, case in point:

You can't tell me the progress indicator is hard to see right where it is. Also, as often as not the mining beams take up the upper half of the HUD anyway, so there really wouldn't be much of a point in moving it in the first place.

Must we debate the suggestions? What would be the harm in implementing this?
Clarification: I was hoping for alternatives, rather than "let's not do it"

Instead of moving it, we could also lower its opacity so you can see it no matter what's behind it.
not to start an argument but, yes, the way the forum for suggetions are set up so that they can be debated. I think changing the opacity of the bars is a great idea, and quite simple to do.
I'm fine with that, as long as it's more visible.
Phaserlight: the reason you have no problems is that you've got the 'full scene glow effect' off. I don't think I should have to turn down the details just to be able to see the progress bars.

Why is the mining beams coming out the nose in the first place, and not where guns normally shoot from?
That is actually the issue... but if it's not possible to move the beams, then just put the pogress bars down or to the side....

they come from where guns normally shoot, but in the case of guns you seldom see the cutoff due to there are no continuous beams. with mining, its continuous, so you see the oddity.
Check from a side view and you see that on a centaur, it comes from the two slots on the bottom, not from the front.

More sensible would just to be to move the origination point of the mining lasers to coincide with all other weapons, at the bottom of the screen. This way you don't have weird glowy things coming out of your windshield in space.
I definitely agree with that. Having the beams come out from the middle of the screen always seemed wrong to me, somewhat tacky even..
FM: no harm in implementing it I suppose if the devs want to put in the time, and I'm not meaning to be stubborn, I just honestly like it exactly the way it is. Just my 2c.
Personally, I think the mining beams would be MUCH better originating from the bottom of the viewing area, not the center of the HUD...
This would solve the progress bar issue, and make the beams seem less tacky.
