Ships determine XP?
I think I've discovered that the CP/SW/LW xp determination from "combat practice" is determined by the ship you are in. Spent a long time in a Wraith doing combat training 'cause I like to do cartgo, but needed to up my xp in other areas for weapons. By the time I was 1/1/0/2 I had more money than I needed. When I finally bought a fighter, My xp counts went up per ship I destroyed.
Is this really what's happening in the xp engine? If so you should warn newbies.

If that's true, it seems rather odd to me. It's possible that the XP is modified by some sort of simplistic system for determining the quality of equipment and that for some reason the system determined that it was more difficult to fight in the 'fighter' you bought than in a Wraith (hense worth more XP). That's possible, because superficially a Wraith has pretty good stats (hull points and weapon mounts). However, any simplistic measurement is probably going to vastly underrate the effects of agility on combat.
It's also possible that you are confused. Are you sure you were destroying the same sort of bot? Do you have some numbers for your before and after XP? Could the numbers been thrown off by the fact that you were getting more heavy weapon XP in the Wraith? Where you performing the same mission in both cases? Heck, are both numbers from the same build of Vendetta (you never know, they might have changed something and not mentioned it)?

XP is 100% determined by the bot type.
EXP is set by bot type, what type of EXP you get is set by which weapon is used to destroy said bot.
Kill a high level bot with a small port weapon and you will get lots of small port exp.

Also, isn't it just the death blow that determines which xp you get?
Ie. Can't you drain a bot down with small weapons and then finish it with a rocket or missile to get heavy xp? Sure saves on ammo most of the time.
I know you get some xp for damaging a bot that gets killed by someone else, too.
