Richest Nation
After skimming the big economy thread, and seeing a1k0n mentioning how rich our richest player was, I thought it might be kinda neat to be able to see which nation was currently the richest, either in game or somewhere here on the site. UIT, no doubt (having the most players, and Chao) would be number one, but it would be nice to see how Itani and Serco compared. And throw in per capita stats, to take away UIT's advantage of having more players. Maybe (or maybe not - some people might not like this) show the top 10 wealthiest players as well.
This definitely isn't at all crucial, but if it would be easy enough to implement I think it would be interesting.

Like Forbes 500 :)
Vendetta x (x=all Players). There would be an aditional goal for some players: climb up the latter of richness :)

sweetness :D
We had this before, then it got taken out... I agree, maybe we should have it back again :D
The richest nation would be an additional feather in the cap of master traders... and now potentially mining focused pilots/groups.
Why not give kudos to those factions who mine the greatest quantity or quality of ore? That data seems like it would be readily available from a programmatic standpoint. And it would be an additional incentive for folks to go nuts mining. Mining ventures might even go into 'hated' factions' territories to milk their 'roid resources as both a harvesting and preventative (due to 'roids heating up) measure.

I like this idea. It would make the game feel more 'real', and give players another set of goals to try and achieve. You could break the stats page into nations, guilds, and players, tracking net worth, average worth, mining production, cargo sales, average % profit from cargo trade etc.
This could be part of the news system.. We could list GDPs of each "nation" as well as corporate profits for all the subfactions of UIT and perhaps also of guilds.
As a separate idea, selling ore to a faction could give you a faction boost, I suppose. It might make more sense if it were an ore that was in high demand at a particular station. Technically if a faction catches you taking ore from their space and selling it elsewhere they could penalize you, too.

I think I mentioned this once. Mining and selling ore to a station should give you a faction standing boost with that station's controlling faction, maybe ranging from a hundredth or less of a single point, for things like silicate ore, up to a point or two for each unit of an ore that is specifically needed for the war effort.
Once again I agree with Soltis' suggestions entirely. Players that support a faction through trade and mining should receive a standing boost.
hmm, I'd rather see more missions to do this, where the missions themselves pay a slight boon, a faction bonus , but you do not keep your profits.
This is more in line with the current level of effort for gaining standing, and doesn't offset it so "mining is the only fast way to gain standing".
Preferrably balanced so theres the same time / faction (and a constant "payment per time unit") just to keep things going nicely.

we used to have money listed on the Nation Stats page... or something like that.
