Ammunition has mass.
Simple: A weapon with ammunition has a set mass for the launcher/electronics. The ammunition also has a set mass per shot. When you shoot a missile with a mass on 50kg, you mass drops by that amount.
Gemini has a mass of 598kg total. This includes the launchers mass of 200kg and 18 missiles with a mass of 20kg each.
In close chases and battles where every kg of mass counts, you could unload your complement of missiles/rockets to increase your maneuverability.

I agree.
Me too, I also think there should be expanded capacity that is carried in cargo slots.
that would be really cool to be able to carry extra missles in your cargo bay. You should create an extra large explosion though if someone kills you. >B)
It only makes sense that if you jettison cargo and lose mass, you should lose mass for firing missles.

I agree with the ammo having mass, not the other suggestion of being able to store extra ammo in your cargo hold though.
only if you at load time (and buy time) can decide how much mass you would want to have in your ship.
This would add an interesting feature for the removcal of the worthless starflare and iceflare. Simply make them different weighted ammunition for the ship, higher level, price , same ammount, but different weight.
