Different types of storms & diverting power
I thought of a couple of things, which I think would make some good tactical situations & make the already fun combat even more interesting. Here they are:
1. Different types of storms - in Jumpgate, there were two types of storms: the shield storm that drains shields, and the armour storm which damaged armour down to 1% but not shields. So I thought, why not something like this for Vendetta? More variety would make the game more interesting, and it wouldn't be that hard to implement a different coloured storm or something. There could be different effects like draining shields, making weapons do more damage among others. Perhaps it would be better if, like Jumpgate, these storms would span multiple sectors and be visible on maps, but not necessarily drop ships out of warp.
2. Diverting energy to different systems - I've seen this in other space games, where you get a 'triad' that allows you to balance power between engines, weapons and shields (or hull plating). I'm not so sure about this idea as it may cause balance problems, e.g. with weapons that don't use as much energy, but if done right I also think that it would make the combat more fun and tactical.
