Missile Traces
It would be so cool If the rockets would leave a trail of their flying path. If the missile misses its target, you would see the traces of the circles and pathes it flies. That would be AMAZING!
Imagine a lot of people shooting a massive amount of rockets. m00f!

>> El_Burrito<< Asphyxia: what do you think about missile trails?
< El_Burrito> wouldnt that be cool?
<%Asphyxia> i think they should be optional.. personally, i'd prefer to have the extra 30fps available to more accurately target my foe, not waste clock cycles on ogl fog effects.
<%Asphyxia> but thats just imnsho
< El_Burrito> Yes, optional is better.
<%Asphyxia> other than that, yeah, it would certainly look nice.
<%Asphyxia> although the framedrop from a set of swarms would be unbearable
< El_Burrito> I guess there should be a way to tune that ..
< El_Burrito> A lot of people who have fast computers would certainly appreciate that ..
<%Asphyxia> it also adds a bunch of network lag keeping the fog effects synched across clients so as not to introduce a blinding effect.
<%Asphyxia> unless the client calculated the effect based on the location/ speed and trajectory of the projectile... not trajectory. gah whats the word?
<%Asphyxia> err... lets just say direction
< El_Burrito> Yes, client sided of course, its eyecandy after all
<%Asphyxia> but they, due to network lag, the effect may not always be in the same place across clients, thereby adding a blinding effect where one person can see the other, but cant be seen themselves.
< El_Burrito> blinding effect? ..just make them small transparent blue stripes, no blinding then ..
< El_Burrito> or white .. no smoke effect
<%Asphyxia> perhaps.
< El_Burrito> I'd love it.
<%Asphyxia> it would take a little work.
<%Asphyxia> i dont see it being a pita to implement though

Make it like the ship engine traces in Homeworld...
