Damage
How about component-specific damage? I don't know how many components a ship is divided up into, but at least the weapons and engine is probably seperate components, so wouldn't it be cool if you could get these specific components damaged or even destroyed while other parts of the ship still functions.
If this isn't possible, it would at least be nice to have area-specific damage. We can already see which part of our ship has been hit, right? So instead of having a general health-status for the entire ship, why not have one health-status for each section of the ship, so in order for the ship to blow up, at least one section must reach 0% health, that way you can shield damaged parts from enemy fire by turning a healthier side of the ship to face the enemy while you try to escape, I think it would add some to the combat gameplay. Or what do you guys think?

I think this is a good idea amb. We already have the display that tells us what section of our ships are in the worst health. It would only make sense that when one section hits 1% and the other section is still at 100%, when you hit the 100% it doesn't destroy the ship.
