Seriously, how hard would it be to put abandoned station pieces in some border sectors. Just use existing designs with rust textures and no lights.

Or maybe a borg-like mutated conglomeration of station parts.. right in front of a hive queen. =P It would add an "atmosphere" of mystery, etc.

Furies lived in two of them, and furies are definatly alienish. I think.
Plus it'd get a bunchie UFO poping in and out every now and then.
