Warping...
I've heard some complaints about the 3000m distance requirement for in-system jumping. Well I have a rockin' solution. Instead of flat-out cutting down the distance needed, make it smart.
"Smart?" you may ask. Yes, instead of saying, "Okay, everybody must be 3000m away from all the big stuff to jump, even busses with crap batteries!", why not have a proportional scale? Work out a system of percentages. More mass means more distance needed sort of thing.
Of course, this could work against freight runners with a lot of cargo (and thus, mass). But does anybody remember early 3.2 (or was it 3.3?). It wasn't uncommon to see actual trade convoys around sector 5. Sometimes I thought I even saw a vulture escort. Guys, we've done the escorting/convoy thing before. We could do it again.

Awww, come on, has anybody even LOOKED at this, yet?
