cargo missions pirate idea
You know the missions, "take this prototype weapon datapad to this system fast etc". well i was thinking if a pirate picked you off and got hold of the datapad, maybe a compulsory mission should pop up in his computer, some other competitor has noticed your exploits and would like to buy the datapad from you, no questions etc, money, xp, blackmarket faction for hidden equip, anything you like as reward
Reward a pirates skill a bit, does take a lot of effort/skill and luck chasing a trader, avoiding missiles and running/anticipating destinations etc. eventually catching and destroying him, and for what? the fun :) of course, but would just think it would be more interesting..
Just rambling a bit, but something there if anyone cares to comment/build on it.

would be a way of having special cargomissions in which you need to avoid a certain other human person and get to a certain sector first. Naturally you both start frm the opposite sides and you need to pass through some predetermined sectors(reversed orders).
meaning:
o - z - z - z - z - x
after a couple sectors: z - z - o - x - z - z
O stays in the sector, and aits for x. and exmaple o winsn making x respawn at the beginning.
z - z - z - o - x - z
now x wins and 0 goes back. And this goes on untill either of them both is on the other side.
Naturrally people should write themselves in for these kinds of missions, either on the pirate side, or the courier side, or both. And if possible, enough people available, you might even see a couple of 3 - 4 pirates against 3 - 4 couriers.
It would at least satisfy the bloodlust of all those pirates out there, and find likeminded people. Add a decent creditprice, and wormhole camping on people not interested in pirating or being pirated will prolly be a lot less frequent.
cheers

I was thinking about this, but in a different way: Whenever you do have a datapad (be it a economic data or a weapon, etc) that you stole from someone, you should beable to sell it to the opposite faction (or competing business) for a good deal of money. IE if an Itani is pirated for hi datadisk, you should be able to sell it to the Serco for about 15k or more (something that would make it worth while.
That would not require missions per se, but it would make pirating a bit more interresting as people would look for datapads.

When a mission is accepted, maybe closest known pirate of another alliegance (ie one with lots of pk's, and not otherwise engaged) could get a popup mission, even if in flight.
Once a pirate engages, a warning for the trader would be fun too.. lol
Would make accepting some of the more profitable cargo missions, in xp and cash, more dangerous and fun :)
I don't really know what is feasable in programming terms, but i'd like to see something twisted like this implimented, make pirating and trading more adventurous. It's fun to have a bot on your tail, It's sick having another human stalking you :) only one winner :) lol...

How 'bout this?
A trader takes a "courier" mission - deliver this datapad to such a sector. Once that mission has been given, a second mission is spawned somewhere else... an interception mission, for lack of a better word. That second mission requires the "pirate" to take out the courier (giving the pirate the name of the courier, and an interception point), and take the datapad to a competitor.
That second mission would have to be generated in a grey area, I think... and the first mission would have to be created in such a manner to give the pirate enough time to intercept the courier.

Good ideas. On a similar note:

An idea I had that's basically the same as theluckyone's idea but with groups. (not to toot my own whistle or anything)
